School Board Meeting The Spencer-Owen Community Schools Board of Trustees met on, Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. for a Work Session and at 7:00 p.m. for a School Board Meeting. They met at Owen Valley Middle School, Cafeteria, 626 West State Highway 46, Spencer Indiana, 47460. Work Session (Open to the public) Members Present: Lew Moke Chad Cooper Rick Smeltzer Jack White Sonia Brinson Amber Willen Members Absent: Larry Hight Started at 6:30 p.m. Students, Hailey Manuel, Cambryin Mann and Joe Pursell gave a presentation to the board with a tour. School Board Meeting (Open to the public) Members Present: Sonia Brinson Lew Moke Chad Cooper Rick Smeltzer Jack White Amber Willen Members Absent: Larry Hight Board Meeting started at 7:00 p.m. 1.0 Organization 1.1 Opening (All items open to public comment.) President Cooper asked for any public comments. None were heard. 1.2 Consider approval of the February 14, 2019, School Board Meeting Minutes and Work Session. Mr. Smeltzer made a motion to approve minutes. Mr. White seconded it. Motion carried 4-0-2. Mrs. Brinson and Mrs. Willen abstained.

(#11504) An intermittent Family Medical Leave for Tonya Jones, Owen Valley High School Inclusion Teacher. (#11615) An intermittent Family Medical Leave for George Jennings, Owen Valley High School Assistant Principal. Motion Dr. Briggs requested the board to approve hiring Kevin Cooper as Assistant Transportation Coordinator for Spencer-Owen Community Schools. (#12925) 3.0 Business Mrs. Willen made a motion to approve. Mr. Moke seconded it. Motion carried 5-0-1. Mr. Cooper abstained. 3.1 Field Trip Mr. Beeman, Curriculum Director requested the board to approve an overnight out of state field trip for Owen Valley High School Softball Team to Union County High School in Morganfield Kentucky on April 19 th -20 th, 2019. Mrs. Brinson made a motion to approve. Mr. Smeltzer seconded it. Motion

3.2 Donation Dr. Briggs requested the board to approve accepting a donation of whiteboards and bookshelves from McCormick s Creek Elementary School PTO to McCormick s Creek Elementary School. Mrs. Willen made a motion to approve. Mrs. Brinson seconded it. Motion 3.3 elearning Days Mr. Beeman requested the board to approve allowing Owen Valley High School to use elearning days as make-up days for the class of 2019. Mrs. Brinson made a motion to approve. Mrs. Willen seconded it. 4.0 Comments Mr. White made a motion to waive the reading. Mrs. Willen seconded it. Motion Mr. Moke asked if the corporation had a policy on administrators coaching? Dr. Briggs said, No, and I would not recommend one. Mr. Moke asked, Would we prevent an administrator from coaching? Dr. Briggs said, This would be addressed as they come, and there would be boxes I would need to check off before I would bring you a recommendation as I do with all recommendations. No further action is needed this evening. Board and Administrative comments were heard. Mrs. Willen made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Smeltzer seconded it. Motion Meeting ended at 7:42 p.m. The board remained at the table to hear patron comments. As a matter of record April 11, 2019.
