Realize and Realize Reader 18.3 Release Notes December 21, 2018 The Realize and Realize Reader Release Notes provide descriptions of the major feature enhancements, resolved issues, and known issues for the release. Please review the Important Information section for notes about the Realize Reader apps and students using the Turn In button. Feature Enhancements Teacher and Student ability to comment on Realize Reader work Teachers can easily provide their feedback on students' work in Realize Reader assignments by adding comments to student highlights, annotations, and notebook prompt responses. Students can use comments to ask their teacher questions and respond to the teacher's comments as well.

Rubrics scoring for TestNav assessments Teachers can now use rubric criteria to score students' performance for TestNav assessments with tests that contain rubrics. Students can also view rubric criteria when working on these assessments and view their rubric scores on completed applicable TestNav assessments to better understand how they were graded. Multiple assessment customization Teachers can now create up to five custom versions of assessments, allowing them to choose specific questions and distractors for each version. This allows teachers to adjust each assessment to meet the different learning styles and student levels present in their classrooms. Class Mastery by Standard report updates The Class Mastery by Standard report, available in the Data section, has been updated to include the following: Standard term displays directly in the report Sortable by student performance on each standard Header continues to display when scrolling Enhanced Realize Reader Highlights and Annotations With this enhancement, students can select text and add a solid highlight, a circle, or an underline to the selected text using one of the four available colors and optionally add annotations!

Accessibility enhancements for Realize students To achieve tighter compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA standards, multiple accessibility enhancements have been made to Realize for students using both the Classic and Early Learning student themes. Important Information Realize Reader Apps Update Needed Students and teachers using the Realize Reader Apple ios, Chrome, or Windows app who have not updated since before the Realize 18.1 release in June 2018, must update the app to the latest version in order to ensure continued access to the content. With the Realize and Realize Reader 18.3 release on December 21st, Pearson is implementing a new security approach which is only compatible with newer Realize Reader app versions. Clicking the Turn In button for multi-activity assignments When a student is working in a multi-activity assignment, it is important that they complete every activity tab in the assignment before clicking the Turn In button. If the student clicks Turn In and an activity is not complete, any additional work the student does in that activity will not be visible to the teacher. As a reminder, the following message appears when a student clicks the Turn In button.

Known Issues Intermittently unable to add highlight or annotation using ios 12 device Occasionally, a student using an ios 12 device with the Safari or Firefox browser cannot select text to add a highlight or annotation to a Realize Reader Selection (RRS) assignment. Refreshing the page will resolve this issue. Realize does not time out after 2 hours of inactivity Realize does not time out after 2 hours of inactivity, allowing students and teachers to resume activity without logging in again.
