ASSSESSMENT STATUS REPORT OF UTD Name of the School: Institute of Engineering & Technology Year of Report: 2009-10 Part A: The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year. Candidates qualified NET/SLET/GATE etc. The Institute relentlessly follows the goals mentioned in its vision, mission and objectives. The academic calendar has been strictly followed. Teaching schedule and the syllabus was covered on time. Assessment of students was undertaken through regular and continuous evaluation and end semester examination. The ultimate goal of nurturing engineering education and producing trained manpower for placement in Industries and other Institutions is being successfully achieved. 1. BE(Civil) 60 Students 2. ME (Electronics) with specialization in Digital Communication programme with 18 Seats got approved from AICTE, New Delhi 6. ME (Mechanical Engg) with specialization in Design & Thermal Engg with 18 Seats got approved from AICTE, New Delhi The updating of curriculum has been a continuous process. The curricula designed is based on opinion of subject experts and requirements of the recruiting companies like TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra etc. Some of the subjects recently included are ERP, Business Communication, Supply Chain Management, Enterprise development skills and IPR. To provide students with the benefits of early exposure to research and innovative skills the major project was initiated in sixth semester of four year BE program. An amount of approx. Rs 2:00 lakhs per annum is paid by the Institute towards this contribution. In all BE, ME and MSc programs the student s assessment of teachers was taken and required steps taken to improve standards All sections of Administrative Office are using computers and printers. Customized software developed in-house is being used for Admissions, Accounts and Result processing w.e.f. year 2000. Following Construction work worth Rs.14 Crores are under progress; - A new block of Electronics & Telecommunication branch - Girls Hostel with a capacity of 200 beds along with warden s quarter - 14 quarters for teachers - Entrance Gate 27. Technology up gradation - The infrastructure with advanced technology is being developed. 3

Computer and internet access and training to teachers and students -7x24 internet access to all the terminals with 2 MBPS leased line & 1 Mbps broad line - It is likely to be increased by 2 Kbps more 29. Financial aid to students Financial aid is provided to Physically handicapped students through Student Welfare department of DAVV 30 Activities and support from Alumni Association formed on Oct 25, 2008. the Alumni Association 31 Activities and support from the Parent Teacher Association - Invocation lecturer to the new admitted students & their parents. - Regular meetings with parents being planned 32. For a group of 15 students, a teacher mentor is assigned. Meetings are held twice a month. Fully active placement cell exists Students volunteer in the placement activity. Part C: Details of the plans of the Institution for the next year: The research programmes in all relevant disciplines shall be strengthened by more PhD registrations and involvement in sponsored research projects. Special emphasis shall be given to improve the standards of research through publications in Journals, and Conferences.
