Students will learn abut the varius methds fr starting up, managing and financing a new venture. Students will get a chance t evaluate real wrld business plans and vides f entrepreneurs. Learning Outcmes: By the end f the curse, student shuld be able t: 1. Examine the steps required, the supprt available, and the tactics cmmnly emplyed by entrepreneurs starting a business. 2. Critically evaluate business plans in terms f feasibility, investment ptential, risk, and cmpleteness. Materials: All f the required materials fr this curse may be purchased at the De Anza Bkstre. Games: Each week there is sme type f nline game r puzzle available t test yur cmprehensin f the lessns. The games are prvided t help yu determine hw well yu understand the material, and t help yu prepare fr the midterm and final examinatins. Yu may use these games as many times as yu like and yur scre is nt recrded in my grade bk. Hwever, yu will receive 2 pints fr trying the game and submitting yur initial scre where the quiz is lcated befre the psted deadline that week. they invlve tasks such as web research, vide case studies, a team prblem, r even a rle play exercise. All questins psed in the assignment are fully answered but explanatins may be brief r sme f the directins missed. Psts are generally clear but may cntain ccasinal grammatical errrs r typs. Sme f the assigned questins are skipped r ignred. Examinatins: There will be 2 exams t test yu n the material yu have learned. The questins will cntain similar cntent t issues explred in the practice quizzes and games, readings, and discussin assignments. Midterm (40 pints) cvers textbk chapters 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10,11, and 12. It is due by Friday 5/13 by midnight Pacific Standard Time. Final Exam (40 pints) cvers textbk chapters 2, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. Students must cmplete the final by Tuesday 6/21 by midnight PST. Optinal Extra Credit Final Essay (8 Pints) The student has the ptin f answering a final exam essay questin fr up t 8 pints f extra credit. Students will have ne hur t cmpse their answer t the essay questin. This extra credit is als due by Tuesday 6/21, althugh it is timed separately t allw yu t take a break.
