Academic dishnesty is defined as an intentinal act f deceptin in ne f the fllwing areas: Cmplete r partial academic dishnesty will immediately result in a grade f zer. Absences Due t ur blck schedule, an absence t a blck-schedule class is equivalent t tw absences (Perid 1 nly cunts as 1). It is very imprtant that students make every attempt t be present fr all classes. We cver many cncepts in a blck schedule class perid. Please d nt plan n extra days ur extending lng weekends and hliday perids. An absent student is respnsible t btain the infrmatin/tpic cvered during their absence. Distinctin between legitimate cllabratin and unacceptable cllusin r plagiarism There are ccasins when grup wrk is entirely desirable and acceptable. This is legitimate cllabratin. In such a case, each student invlved shuld play a distinct part s that it is clearly seen hw their cntributin differs frm that f thers in the grup. Any written wrk presented must be individual. One student cannt d the writing fr anther. Unacceptable cllusin ccurs when ne student cpies frm anther with their agreement, r when ne student des the wrk fr anther. 6

Actins t be taken by the schl if a student is fund guilty f malpractice The emphasis f Dral Academy s academic hnesty plicy is n preventin, and n students learning the apprpriate skills f crrectly referencing wrk. We are aware that students cme frm a variety f cultural backgrunds, and it may take them time t understand this plicy. This is nt t say that plagiarism is tlerated. Repeated ffences will mean that mre severe actin will be implemented. Student s fund guilty f malpractice in general will be subject t cnsequences at the discretin f the schl administratin which can include: Meeting with student s cunselr and schl administratr abut the incident. Parents ntified Zer earned fr the assignment Saturday schl detentin Outdr suspensin Student placed n academic prbatin fr the schl year Hw are students educated abut academic hnesty and integrity? Parents will be required t read and sign Academic Hnesty and Integrity agreement. Plicy will be explained by teacher and may be included in teacher s syllabi.
