Dear Parents, We would like to add a Makerspace activity option for our students to have available once a week during Extended Care. As you may know, Makerspaces are spaces where participants can use a wide variety of materials, tools, and/or technologies to design and build projects that are challenging and open-ended. For our space here in Extended Care, we are collecting inexpensive materials that people likely already have at home or would recycle. The materials will be available with some task cards to get students started. For now, it will be available once a week. We are asking that you bring in any of the following that you may have at home as long as they are in clean, usable condition. Please note that we are keeping this a place for students to design and create physical materials, so they will not be using anything electronic. Please do not send in materials not on the list as we are still working out our storage system! Makespace Materials Cardboard (flattened boxes from deliveries, shoe boxes etc., smaller boxes from cereal etc.) Duct tape Masking tape Scotch tape Empty toilet paper rolls Empty paper towel rolls Legos Blocks Fabric Ribbon String Paper: wrapping paper, cardstock, printer, etc. Egg cartons Aluminum foil Pipe cleaners Cotton balls Popsicle sticks Toothpicks Basic supplies: scissors, crayons, markers, staplers, staples, paper clips, rubber bands, glue, glue sticks Thank you, Rod Campbell
