Field Study in School Library Media Programs Assumed all responsibility for the capstone course for students in the school library media specialization in 2001. Completely revised and significantly increased course requirements. Course evaluations from the Fall 2003 semester reflected a score of 5.0/5.0 on the measure of teaching effectiveness and 4.9/5.0 on the measure of value of the course to an understanding of the field. In addition, during the 2003-2004 academic year, I assumed responsibility for advising an additional 20 students who are planning careers as public librarians, children s librarians, or children s information specialists. Although the work has just begun, I expect to have the opportunity to develop a leadership institute for supervisors of library and information services in large urban school districts; to contribute to the creation of a course in leadership for master s level students; and to work with leaders in the public library field in Maryland to create training opportunities in the leadership area for practitioners.
