RE Throughout this year Catholic children will be preparing for their Confirmation which will require them to study the signs and symbols of the Sacrament and prepare spiritually for this rite. At all times we remember that teaching children about the Roman Catholic faith can only be done in partnership with the child s parents and we respect the promises parents made at baptism, to nurture their child s faith and support the work of the Catholic Church. We follow the diocesan scheme of work. During the Autumn term we will be studying: The Story of the People of God which focuses on understanding the structure of the Bible and the forms of literature found in different books. The children will be introduced to stories of significant people in the Old Testament. They will discover what some of these stories tell us about their relationship with God. Followers of Christ which considers the call of the disciples by Jesus. The children will learn about the demands that the call of Christ played on the first disciples and how they can answer the call of Christ today through the life of the Church. Belonging to the Church Community children will learn about the foundations and the life of the Catholic Church being rooted in the life and teaching of the Apostles. The children will learn about the role of the Pope and the local Bishop in the life of the universal and local Church.
