Useful Revision Websites www.bbc.co.uk/revision Or www.bbc.co.uk/schools/bitesize www.mymaths.co.uk FLG Accessed via the schools website: www.farlingaye.suffolk.sch.uk Please check with your teacher if you are unsure of your login or password for any of the above.

Find out what information you need to revise. Plan times that you will devote to revising each subject. Organise a quiet place at home where you will not be disturbed. Organise all of your lesson notes and make sure there is nothing missing. Revision Tips Test yourself or get other people to test you. Underline or highlight key words and definitions. Use rhymes, diagrams and spider webs to summarise information. Plan to revise each topic three times. Do 1. Plan your revision in 30 minute slots. 2. Start your revision early. 3. Plan some times during breaks where you can get outside and be active.

Have all of your equipment ready. Listen carefully to all of the instructions. Read the instructions on the assessment carefully. Spend 5 minutes reading through the assessment paper. What to do in the assessment Underline the key words and think about what information the question is asking for. Use diagrams where it will help you to give a clearer answer. Try not to leave any questions blank. Read each question more than once. Keep an eye on the time.

Read through your revision notes the night before the assessment. Put your name on every assessment paper. Get all the equipment you need for the assessment ready the night before. Don t forget... Make sure you have a good breakfast. When you have finished the assessment check that you have not left any questions out or made any silly mistakes.

Revision planning sheet for ENGLISH What will I have to do? You will have a test of your skills in writing. How should I use the assessment time? The writing test will ask you to construct a piece of writing about a specific topic and for a defined purpose. You will have 45 minutes, of which you are recommended to spend at least 10 minutes planning. Revision Tasks Writing to argue, persuade and advise Writing to explore, imagine and entertain Writing to inform, explain and describe The writing triplets above cover styles of writing you will have studied and practised this year. For each triplet, make a mind map of how you should adapt your writing to successfully achieve the correct style. Think about what features of language you should include. For example, if you are writing persuasively you might want to use rhetorical questions and flattery amongst other techniques. After mind mapping for each triplet, practise using the features in a piece of writing. GOOD LUCK!
