Junior School 7 December 2018 Newsletter From the Head Habit of Mind Reflect and Celebrate Dear Parents and Friends of our school, We have surfed a lofty, positive wave into the end of year; enjoying a number of entertaining events which showcased our girls many and varied achievements and talents. Our Rock the Casbah production was a resounding success. The Grade 7 cohort sang, acted and performed with wonderful confidence and enthusiasm; supported with equal brilliance by girls in the other grades. Thank you to all the parents and friends who made up our appreciative audiences and a very special thank you to all those parents who helped backstage with makeup, set design and costumes; we couldn t do it without you. To Ms Bellingham, who directed the show with such efficiency and passion, a heartfelt thank you for all the dedication and commitment that goes into an event of this scale. A recording of the production is accessible via this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19gki5gtlqdzhi_ xyxa6ugz7cmsro-yl0?usp=sharing Combined Carol Service with Prep Interhouse Shield was awarded to both Ruby and Amber for 2018. The combined carol service with Prep was very special. Rev Rachel, along with both choirs, verse readers and music department staff led an entertaining and emotional Christmas celebration. Many thanks to everyone for attending; such combined affairs have that extra-special touch. Furthermore, I would like to thank everyone who donated a previously loved book. To quote Kelly Long: A heartfelt, massive thank you to all the generous souls who have brought an abundance of Christmas Joy to the children of Whistle Stop School. Our annual Prize-Giving kicked off with a sparkling entertainment programme, during which the choir, dances, drama students and musicians delighted the audience. Regardless of whether or not girls walked across the stage, the teachers and I are extremely proud of each and every one. They have all achieved various milestones along their personal journey in learning and we have noticed outstanding grit and persistence on task.
