The primary mission of the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County, Inc. is to assist donors who build an enduring source of charitable assets to benefit the Jefferson County community. Many donors have sought to achieve this goal by endowing gifts for scholarships for higher education so local students have a greater likelihood of reaching their potential. Applications will open to students on Thursday, December 1, 2016. A link to online applications will be available on the Scholarship page of www.cfmjc.org. The deadline to submit completed applications online or to Guidance Counselors is Friday, January 20, 2017 at NOON unless otherwise noted. Scholarships using other applications may have different deadlines. Please review the deadlines for each scholarship. Applications received after the stated deadline WILL NOT be considered under any circumstance. Scholarships including Financial Need in the criteria will require the applicant to submit a College Costs Estimator by Friday, January 20, 2017 at NOON. Begin your CCE at www.indianacollegecosts.org. Scholarship awards are for tuition only. Students already receiving a full-tuition award from a college or another source, such as a full-tuition athletic or academic scholarship, are not eligible for Community Foundation scholarships. Scholarship awards are generally for graduating high school seniors unless otherwise noted. Scholarship awards are not renewable, unless otherwise noted. Community Foundation employees and board members, as well as family members of the aforementioned individuals, are ineligible for Community Foundation scholarships. Ineligible family members include spouses, lineal descendants and their spouses, siblings and their spouses. The period of ineligibility extends through the calendar year following the year in which the volunteer position or employment ends. Family members of selection advisory committee members are ineligible for Community Foundation scholarships. This includes spouses, lineal descendants and their spouses, and siblings and their spouses. Scholarship awards are mailed directly to the selected schools after a tuition bill and college information are received by the Community Foundation. Checks are mailed to the schools on or before August 1.

2017 Community Foundation Scholarships Scholarships are listed alphabetically by school (Indicates 2017 total available award amount as of 1/6/17) **scholarship amount listed may be divided among multiple recipients All Jefferson County Students Jefferson County 4-H Scholarship (2017 $5,700**) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County graduating seniors or recent graduates planning to attend a two or four-year college or university, vocational, or trade school and have completed four years of regular 4-H. Criteria evaluated: 4-H participation, academic achievement, community activities, financial need. Scholarship applications available at the Jefferson County Extension Office (812-265-8919). Deadline is May 1. Broadway School Alumni Scholarship (2017 - $700) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County graduating high school seniors attending any accredited two or four-year college or university. Criteria evaluated: Financial need, academic ability, concern for school and community. Required: 200 word essay on the role the Broadway High School (the first commissioned colored high school in the state of Indiana located in the 600 block of north Broadway) played in the history of Madison. Dupont Alumni Scholarship (2017 Multiple Awards - $3,000**) Eligible Applicants: Graduating seniors of all Jefferson County high schools attending any accredited two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school. Applicant must have attended Dupont Elementary School for at least one year, or have a parent or grandparent who attended a Dupont school. Criteria Evaluated: Academic record, financial need, interview. Required: Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors of the applicants high school. College Cost Estimator required to be completed. Ralph & Robyn Jones Family Memorial Scholarship (2017 Multiple Awards- $1,900**) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County high school graduating seniors planning to attend any accredited two or four-year college or university, vocational, or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 3.7 and below and family adjusted gross income of $44,000 to $74,000 per year. Those with higher incomes may be considered if extraordinary financial need can be demonstrated. George and June Kirk Scholarship (2017 - $18,100 Divided over 4 years) Eligible Applicants: Graduating seniors from any accredited Jefferson County high school who will pursue a full time baccalaureate course of study (4 year program) at any Indiana publicly supported (not private) college or university. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 2.5 to 3.5, financial need. Community involvement, extracurricular activities, and after-school employment may be taken into consideration.

Madison Chautauqua Scholarship for the Arts in Memory of Bob Fourhman (2017 - $1,000) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County, Indiana high school juniors, seniors, and adult residents wishing to further their education in the visual or performing arts. May be used for tuition to attend a college, vocational school, IRS qualified summer study or short courses not leading to an academic degree. All art forms are eligible, including the visual and performing arts and photography. Required: Letter of recommendation from a person knowledgeable about your talent and accomplishments in your art form, along with a sample of your work in the form of photographs, cassette, CD, or DVD, with a maximum of 3 photos and one 3-minute DVD or CD. Actual samples of work are also accepted. Scholarship application located on the Community Foundation website (www.cfmjc.org). George and June Miller Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,000) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County high school graduating seniors who are accepted into and will attend an accredited two or four-year public or private college or university, vocational or trade school located in Jefferson County, Indiana. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 2.5 to 3.5, financial need, community involvement, extracurricular activities. Required: Two Letters of Recommendation 1) from a teacher; 2) someone outside of teaching (such as an employer or volunteer coordinator). Joyce E. Rawson Endowment (Awards determined by Franklin College) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County students enrolled at Franklin College. Contact Franklin College s Financial Services Office for details - 1-800-852-0232 ext. 8075. The Wood Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $900) Eligible Applicants: Jefferson County high school graduating seniors planning to attend a two or fouryear college or university, vocational or trade school who live in the Ryker s Ridge school/community district. Criteria Evaluated: academic standing and financial need. Madison Consolidated High School Sharon Thom Alcorn Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,500) two or four-year college or university, vocational or trade school and majoring in education. Preference will be given to students who are interested in teaching English. Criteria Evaluated: academic performance and financial need. M.W. Anderson Scholarship (2017 - $900) two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school who attended M.W. Anderson Elementary School for at least three years (six semesters). Criteria Evaluated: academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, participation in extra-curricular activities, financial need.

Helyn Bishop Scholarship (2017 - $1,000) two or four year college or university, or vocational or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: academic achievement and financial need. Required: Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors of Madison Consolidated High School. Calvin Family Scholarship (2017 - $800) Eligible Applicants: Madison Consolidated High School or Southwestern High School graduating seniors attending any accredited four year college or university. Applicants must be majoring in education with the intent of teaching in a K-12 Public School. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 3.0 or above, academic achievement, academic honors and awards, extracurricular and community involvement, and financial need. Required: Essay of up to 250 words describing why the applicant wishes to become a teacher; Two letters of recommendation one from an English teacher and an academic teacher; Scoring form completed by an academic teacher. Tiffany Lee Carter Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,000) two or four-year institution. Required: An essay of up to 500 words about cystic fibrosis and/or the importance of organ donation. The Chan Chilton Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $700) two or four year college or university, or vocational or trade school who have participated in two or more men's varsity sports during their high school careers. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 2.5 or above. Preference for applicants that have exemplified teamwork, excelled in sportsmanship, has an outstanding work ethic, shown respect and consideration to others, demonstrated unselfishness, and maintained an exceptional citizenship record during high school. Class of '84 Scholarship (2017 - $200) two or four year college or university, vocational, or trade school. Will be awarded to the winner of the Francis K. Eisan Memorial Scholarship. Joseph V. Cline Scholarship (2017 - $32,700 Divided over 4 years) two or four college or university, vocational or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 3.0 and above. Required: An essay of up to 250 words describing how the student has made contributions to the student body and exemplified the school s mission statement and beliefs., and Letters of Recommendation from two teachers from sophomore and/or junior year at MCHS. Thomas D. Craft Jr. Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $900) Eligible Applicants: Madison Consolidated High School graduating senior attending any accredited two or four year college or university. Criteria evaluated: GPA of 3.0 and higher, demonstration of good citizenship, community service. Required: A Letter of Recommendation from a teacher and from a source outside of the Madison Consolidated Schools system.

Norma A. Cull Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $2,100) two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school who are majoring in journalism. Criteria Evaluated: Financial need, participation in school publications and other media activities, community service, interest in pursuing studies beyond journalism (such as economics, government, or any other field on which they might be required to report during their career). Deputy Alumni Scholarship (2017 Multiple Awards - $3,000**) two or four year college or university, or vocational or trade school who attended Deputy Elementary School for at least one year and currently resides in Graham Township. Criteria evaluated: Academic achievement and financial need. Required: Two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors of Madison Consolidated High School, and acceptance letter to a program for post high school education. Frances K. Eisan Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $900) two or four-year college or university, vocational or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: Financial need, academic achievement. Mabel Green Memorial Scholarship (2017 Two Awards - $1,200 each) two or four-year college or university, vocational or trade school. Preference will be given to students majoring in education. Criteria evaluated: Class rank in the upper 10% of the class and financial need. Carl J. & Mary M. Hoefling Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $4,155) two or four-year college or university, or vocational or trade school who have attended MCHS for four years. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 2.0 and above and personal interview. The Hoefling Memorial Scholarship application will be available in the counselor s office. Deadline - TBA Dennis Holt Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,200) two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school who played Girls basketball for one or more years during their high school career. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Glenn G. & Dorothy Ebel Huntington Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,000 Divided over Freshman & Junior Year) four year college or university pursuing a degree in primary or secondary education. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a degree in primary education. Required: Essay of up to 250 words describing why the applicant wishes to become a teacher.

Charles H. & C. Chris Keller Scholarship (2017 - $300) Eligible Applicants: Madison Consolidated High School or Shawe Memorial High School graduating seniors planning to attend an accredited technical or trade school, or two year college. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 2.0 or higher, academic achievement, extracurricular activities. Dorothy B. Lotz Scholarship (2017 Two Awards - $1,800 each) two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: Class rank. SAT/ACT scores and academic class load will be considered in the event of a tie. No application required. MCHS Class of 1966 Scholarship (2017 $1,600) two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: GPA of 2.5 or higher, extracurricular activities, financial need. Lynn A. Maricle Music Scholarship (2017 - $1,000) two or four year college or university, or vocational or trade school pursuing a degree in music and/or performing arts. Required: Two Letters of Recommendation including one from a teacher in the Music or Drama Department. Terri Nighbert Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,000) four year college or university pursuing a degree in nursing. Criteria Evaluated: Financial need, academic achievement. Brad O Leary Scholarship (2017 - $600) two or four year college or university, vocational or trade school who have an interest in the Spanish language. Criteria Evaluated: Student has taken at least 3 years of Spanish, grades of C or better in Spanish classes, plans to continue to use and improve their Spanish speaking skills, financial need. Preference for applicants that have participated in Spanish speaking activities such as mission trips, tutoring, Hispanic Festival, etc. Troy Allen Pyles Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,100) two or four-year college or university, vocational or trade school who have participated in the Madison High School Band for at least four semesters during high school. Criteria Evaluated: Preference for the average student who might not be eligible for other awards.

Morrill Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,700) Bill Oldaker Scholarship (2017 - $500) Larry and Charmaine Owens Scholarship (2017 - $725) Eligible Applicants: Madison Consolidated High School, Shawe Memorial High School, and Southwestern High School graduating seniors. Deadline - TBA Erin Turner Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $300) Eligible Applicants: Madison Consolidated High School graduating seniors planning to attend Ivy Tech Community College at the Madison campus. Criteria Evaluated: Preference for a good student who is eligible for few other awards. Nathan Wilson Memorial Mathematics Scholarship (2017 - $3,000) Eligible Applicants: Madison Consolidated High School graduating senior attending any accredited two or four-year college or university, vocational or trade school. Criteria Evaluated: Aptitude and achievement in mathematics, financial need. No application required. Curtis Wright Memorial Scholarship (2017 - $1,200) four year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Applicants must have participated in cross country and/or swimming during high school. Criteria Evaluated: Academic achievement and participation in community activities. Required: A letter of recommendation from the MCHS Athletic Department. Shawe Memorial High School Hall Family Scholarship (2017 - $300) Eligible Applicants: Shawe Memorial High School graduating seniors attending any accredited two or four year college or university, or vocational or trade school. Criteria evaluated: Financial need, good citizenship, academic achievement. Charles H. & C. Calvin Family Scholarship (2017 - $800) Eligible Applicants: Southwestern High School or Madison Consolidated High School graduating seniors attending any accredited four year college or university. Christie Crafton Memorial Scholarship (2017 Two Awards - $700 each) Eligible Applicants: Southwestern High School and New Washington High School graduating seniors attending an Indiana four year college or university pursuing a degree in primary or secondary education, or a related profession that services children, such as social services or nursing.
