**Explanation of course action for intended outcomes not realized: SLO 1: 1/2 measures indicated that the SLO was achieved, while 1 indicated students fell just below the standard with only 83% (up by 1% from 2016-2017) versus 85% achieved the standard. A subjective determination was made faculty feel that with the historical improvements in this SLO combined with the small, 2% difference for Measure 2, and the high benchmark that we are achieving this outcome. SLO 2: 2/3 measures indicated that students achieved the SLO. SLO 3: 2/2 measures indicated that students achieved the SLO. SLO 4: 2/3 measures indicated that students achieved the SLO. SLO 5: 1/2 measures indicated that students achieved the SLO. It should be reiterated that Measure 1 did not meet the 85% benchmark, but did improve by 4% compared to last year. Additionally, Measure 2 met the benchmark and also, showed improvement by 3% from last year. SLO 6: 2/3 measures indicated that students achieved the SLO. SLO 7: 55% or majority of reporting alumni are currently working in sport industry; 13% are continuing education, and the remaining 32% are employed in an area that may be related to (e.g. account executives, sales, etc.) or out of discipline. **Of note, students who completed the M.S. degree are more likely to work in industry compared to those with the bachelor s degree. See M.S. OA Results. Note 1: If you are using different direct and indirect measures for different degree programs, please replicate this form, using one form for each program that has different measures. If different programs use the same measures, only one copy of this form is needed. Note 2: At a minimum, you are required to use two direct and two indirect measures to assess all of your student learning outcomes. You are not required to measure each student learning outcome with more than one measure. This matrix offers space to show that you have more than one measure for each SLO, but it is not required.

The first attempt pass rate differed greatly between the TROY and TROY Online locations. As such, the plans of action include: 1. Ensuring that we are evaluating first attempts rather than any attempts afterwards when reporting for this SLO. 2. Evaluating the use of consistent graders; these are graded by all faculty each comprehensive exam utilizes two graders. But, perhaps TROY and TROY Online utilize graders that are primarily teaching at those locations. SLO 2: 2/2 measures indicated the SLO was achieved. SLO 3: 2/4 measures indicated that the SLO was achieved. Additionally, the TROY campus data indicated that the SLO was achieved. Data stemming from the TROY Online 6691 differed so greatly, accounting for the failure of this SLO. Although these results indicated this SLO was not achieved, 71% or 35/49 students indicated achievement of the SLO. Course delivery differences are being evaluated. SLO 4: 2/2 measures indicated the SLO was achieved. SLO 5: 87% or majority of reporting M.S. alumni are currently working in sport industry; 2% are continuing education, and the remaining 11% are working in an area that may be related to or out of discipline.

Ph.D. SM Average degrees awarded = 1 Data indicated that each program achieved the objectives and goals that are linked to the School of HSTM Mission. Staying mission focused, producing quality graduates, with strong content knowledge and soft, transferrable skill sets is a priority for the School of HSTM. The faculty feel that by holding high standards, students will rise to a new level, grow personally, achieve jobs upon graduation, and, ultimately assist in growing HSTM enrollments. In 2013 (due to the new B.S. HSTM degree title), there were 0 HSTM majors; in 2015, there were 200 HSTM-Sport Management students and in 2017 there are 343 HSTM-Sport Management students. Each year we graduate and admit on average 30 to 40 HSTM Sport Management students. 3 Exceeds s Data: Track Curriculum Revision & Improvements 1. B.S. HSTM SM: The core curriculum is comprised of 30 hours in the interrelated areas of hospitality, tourism and sport. Students then must choose a 21-hour concentration in one of the three aforementioned areas. Additionally, students then will complete an 18-hour minor. Most Sport Management students will minor in Global Business Administration, Promotions, Marketing, Hospitality or Tourism. 2. M.S. SFM This program recently modified the curriculum in preparation for transitioning Coaching and Exercise Science out of the concentration options. The core consists of 12 hours (i.e. foundation course, statistics course and two research courses). All Sport Management students are then allowed flexibility to choose 24 elective hours in sport management courses to complete their degree. The School of HSTM is constantly reviewing curriculum to ensure that educational innovation is ongoing and open for discussion amongst all faculty. HSTM faculty are committed to creating consistent s for students. Over the past years, all curriculum has been modified to make students more marketable, provide them content knowledge that is catered to their respective industry interests, and create more flexible curriculum options. Ph.D. SM The Ph.D. in Sport Management initially was offered exclusively online; recent curricular modifications have allowed for more course options in a traditional environment. These modifications are also aligned with the newly created electives for the M.S. SFM program. There are 5 core classes for the Ph.D. in Sport Management and an additional nine hours of required courses. These 24 hours are offered exclusively online; all elective courses may be taken in either format. An additional rationale to offering a more blended Ph.D. Sport Management program was to be able to engage the international mission of the institution. As an exclusively online program, the ability to accept international students was limited due to governmental restrictions. This is no longer the case and we are

Data: Track high-tough experiences: Advising, Availability OEG 2 Data: Track Experiential Learning Opportunities able to admit interested and qualified international students to the Ph.D. program. The School of HSTM has a strict advising policy: students should make appointments with their faculty advisors and be prepared during advising meetings. The faculty are committed to teaching HSTM students accountability and, one of consistent opportunities is in the area of advising. Outside of dedicated advising periods, faculty are expected to be available for a minimum of 10 hours; most faculty have open door policies. To enhance the collegiate experience for HSTM students Sport Management Club, Introductory Resumes, Senior Cover Letters, Resumes, Senior Phone Interviews, Senior Face-to-Face Interviews, Senior Seminar & Presentations, Sport Communications, Research Methods (UG & GRAD), Event Management (Road Race, Homecoming, Children s Health Field Day, Charity Golf Tournament, HSTM Banquet), Revenue Generation Cold Calls for Athletics, Sport Management Internship Fair, Sport Management Conference, Attendance to Sport Management Conferences, Professional Presentations, Peer-reviewed Student Publications, Teaching (Doctoral Students Only), etc. The School of HSTM utilizes high-touch advising, where each student should have personal contact with his/her advisor. These meetings are used to direct the students to volunteer and gain experiences, assist in educational and career planning; it is the belief of the HSTM faculty that students are likely to be more engaged and retained if we know them beyond the classroom. The School of HSTM faculty feel that the student experience is enhanced by providing multiple opportunities for students to be engaged in practical experiences both in and out of the classroom. 3 Exceeds s Data: Track Community Partnerships Troy Athletics, Troy Parks and Recreation, Troy Miracle League, Boys and Girls Club http://www.troymessenger.com/2017/04/21/photo-sportsplexbatting-cages-reopen/ Facebook: Troy University School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management Facebook: Troy HSTM Events Instagram: @troy_hstm Twitter: @troy_hstm Students are involved both in and outside of the community; however, faculty are committed to benefitting the local community through various endeavors. Some examples include: raising money for charitable organizations (e.g. Miracle League, Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army) through events put on by HSTM students. Another example is providing both volunteers and interns to community partners. This past year, the School of HSTM was excited to complete a $40,000 grant project for the local community funded through the Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF); this project refurbished an existing batting cage facility at Troy Parks and Recreation. The School of HSTM hosted a successful, publicized grand opening of the event that included Mayor Reeves, TPRD Director, Troy University cheerleaders, baseball and softball players, HSTM students and many other local community members. The batting cage facility is now open to the youth of Troy free of charge. Data: Track Curriculum Revision & Improvements OEG 3 Data: Track Expanded Troy faculty also are highly engaged in the local sport community as volunteers: coaching and coordinating fundraising efforts totaling to just over $25,000 for local youth sport programs in the past two years. Detailed response noted under OEG 1. Detailed response noted under OEG 1. To provide international perspective to HSTM students 1. To date, many activities have been focused on building relationships with international agencies. These experiences 2 Meets s

International Initiatives Data: Track Expanded International Opportunities via Curricula Innovations 2. Costa Rica Dr. Dixon traveled to Costa Rica and met with local universities, federations, governing bodies for soccer and volleyball. 3. Vietnam Drs. Dixon and Holladay traveled to Vietnam and collaborated with the local community for research. Recently three Vietnam locations have been approved to offer the B.S. in HSTM degree (Noted in Principle 7.4). 4. In addition to the above-listed opportunities the School of HSTM embraces global sport management by housing the International Center for Hospitality, Sport and Tourism (ICHST). ICHST provides a focal point for coordinating research, providing educational and training programs and functions as a think tank and informational resource for hospitality, sport and tourism related issues at Troy University. 5. Dr. Packianathan Chelladurai serves as the International Representative for the School of HSTM. Detailed response noted under OEG 1, curriculum revisions and improvements. have allowed opportunities for both faculty and students. Teaching and traveling abroad allows faculty to bring their international experiences into the classroom, thus providing students with such experiences vicariously. The School of HSTM also has a faculty member dedicated to international recruiting. Just as diverse faculty members foster the learning experiences of our students, so does the diverse student population. All HSTM programs are offered 100% in online format and only the B.S. HSTM and M.S. SFM are offered 100% in a faceto-face format. Offering classes via these modalities provides students with great flexibility in completing a degree; however, at the doctoral level, this has limited the option for international students as many international governments will not fund or recognize online degrees. Thus, the doctoral student pool was limited in this regard. However, effective fall 2017, a blended format of the Ph.D. program was designed so as to make the Ph.D. in Sport Management an option for international students. One study abroad course is offered in the HSTM curriculum that directly supports global studies (HSTM 4475) and an additional, minimum 6 hours are required in general studies that contain an international focus. OEG 4 Data: Curriculum opportunities Data: Green Zone Training Certifications Data: Scholarship Opportunities for Military and their dependents To actively support military personnel in pursuit of HSTM related degree As noted, 100% of the School of HSTM academic programs (i.e. B.S., M.S. and Ph.D.) are offered online. This assists the School of HSTM in achieving one of the university s major initiatives; that is, active duty military are able to complete an HSTM degree. Green Zone Training Certifications allow faculty to become certified in instructional needs of military. Troy University offers several financial options for military and their families. All HSTM degree options are accessible to active duty military and family members (that may need to relocate). 1/14 HSTM faculty members are Green Zone certified. This is an area that we are aware can be improved. The Troy University Military and Family Scholarship has been established to recognize the service of U.S. Active Military, Reserve and National Guard members by offering a scholarship to the service member, their spouse and/or dependent children. The Scholarship reduces tuition to $250 per credit hour at both the undergraduate and graduate level. 2 Meets s OEG 5 Data: Growth of Participation in Professional Organizations To create an environment that allows for growth in values and diversity for HSTM students Students have been actively involved with the following: The Sport Management Club The Southern Sport Management Conference now the Applied Sport Management Conference; the ASMA has its roots at Troy University. The HSTM faculty are committed to developing participation in professional organizations including the Sport Management Club. Students at all degree levels are provided notice and opportunities to engage in professional organizations. The HSTM Newsletters 2 Exceeds s
