Kings Point Art League September/October, 2017 President s Message: Hello and Welcome Back I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready to get back into painting. Over the summer, we have been working on updating Committee Job Descriptions. Some were outdated and some were non-existent. Written copies of the job descriptions are expected to be distributed in September. An Art Club Information Station is being created in the Art Room. It will have Member Reference Books which will contain information about the Art Club that members want to know such as Meeting Schedules, Membership List, Bylaws, Job Descriptions, etc. The new Information Station will be clearly marked and will be on the end of the Counter on the right side of the Room. Carol Culp and I have agreed to Chair the 2018 Art Show. When we ask, please volunteer to assist us to work on one of the many committees required to put on a successful Art Show. October Luncheon: On October 27, KPAL will have a catered Welcome Back Luncheon in the Banquet Room followed by a presentation of the summer s Painting Challenge. You won t want to miss that. I look forward to a wonderful year with beautiful artwork from all of you and participation in our upcoming demos and workshops. Drop off a painting on the first Saturday of every month to hang in the art room for a month, be apart of your art league. Bring new ideas to your art league, and let s find ways to make this art league better and generate more new members. I think that when someone volunteers, there is such satisfaction from a positive outcome. Sincerely Harriet L. Zwaskis President KPAL Kings Point Art League 1 September/October, 2017 Newsletter

SAVE THE DATE "Welcome Back Fall Luncheon" Is Friday Oct. 27th in the Banquet Room from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will have a meeting at 11:30, followed by a beautiful luncheon put on by Banquet Masters at 12 noon. If anyone would like to donate a bottle of wine for the wine table, please feel free to do so. The first 1/2 hour from 11 to 11:30 will be happy half hour" to greet everyone old and new, welcoming back some of our members returning from the north, and the lovely faces of the members who are here all year round. Following the luncheon, we are going to have a Painting Challenge in the Art Room from 1:30 to 3:00. Tickets will be on sale at the Board Meeting in the Art Room Tues. Sept. 19th, at 10:30 to 11:30, or at the regular meeting on Fri., Sept. 22nd, in the Art Room. Tickets are $16.00 per person and for members only at this time. As availability allows, you may be able to bring a guest. We will announce more about that later. October 27 Membership Meeting Painting Challenge A special challenge will be given to some artists in the club. Have you ever played telephone? It starts with one person whispering a phrase to the next person, and so forth. By the end of the line, the phrase is significantly different than the original wait and see what happens when we start a picture with one photo reference and pass it on to the next. Should be a delightful experiment of creativity. Diane Simon will be offering a wine and painting acrylic class through Vesta in the art room, Sept. 26th from 5-7 pm. Sign up at the box office. Always a fun evening, and fabulous results for those who just want to get out and be creative. Anne Abgott, a much loved watercolor artist, will be doing workshops in Keeton s starting in October for the whole season. Sign up early, as she is almost always sold out. Flyer is on the bulletin board of the art room. Kings Point Art League 2 September/October, 2017 Newsletter
