18th October 2018 From the Principal /APRE- Brendan O Reilly Dear Parents, The School plays on Saturday night were terrific! Special thanks to Sandra Miiller and the classroom teachers for the considerable time spent preparing the students. Thank you to our parents and friends for preparing outfits and for supporting on the night. UNIFORM TRANSITION In 2019 we will have two slight changes to the current uniform. The entirely black athletic shoe will be the only shoe worn as part of our uniform. This change is a result of parent feedback that the entirely white sandshoe is difficult to purchase in the local area. We highly recommend buying the black athletic shoe because it will allow your child to play comfortably at school every day. The old style black leather shoe doesn t allow the same level of comfort for the students. In 2019 the students will also transition into the new formal hat. The school community voted on this hat style at the beginning of the school year. The current school hat will not be part of the school uniform next year and students will not be permitted to wear it. PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS will take place in week 3, starting on the 23rd October. This is a valuable opportunity for you to come and ask questions about your child and how they are progressing with their learning. I urge all parents to make the time to meet with the appropriate teacher. CLIFTON HIGH SCHOOL STEM & OPEN DAY On Friday 19 October the year 2 to 6 students will walk to the Clifton State High School from 10am until 2pm to experience a whole range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related activities. The general permission form covers this excursion. If your child has ordered tuck shop, it will be delivered to them at the Clifton High School. PRESONAL DEVELOPMENT LESSONS Personal Development Lessons will take place in week 4. Correspondence has been sent home with your child. Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal That festive time of the year is nearly upon us. As a Christian community, we need to remember and help those people in our area that are less fortunate than ourselves. This year we are again encouraging all our families to bring non perishable items into the foyer of the school office for our Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Items are to be placed in (or around) the Christmas Tree. Watch this space each week for an update of our collection. I thank you in advance for your generosity.

QAR On My Own Questions On My Own questions require the student to use their background and prior knowledge. Questions may ask whether students like, agree with or how they feel about a topic. While these answers are personal opinions, students must be able to justify their answer with evidence. The Music Bus Open Day St Francis De Sales will be running a fun and interactive Music Bus Open day this term! On the day you ll have the chance to visit the bus, meet the teacher and ask any questions you might have along the way. All students will also be invited to take part in a short, interactive session on the bus throughout the school day. Offering weekly lessons in keyboard, guitar, ukulele, singing, drums and rock band, The Music Bus program provides the teacher and the instruments, all inside a hightech, mobile music classroom (the bus!) At the end of the activities, students will be given an Expression of Interest form. All students not already part of The Music Bus program, who would like to join, will need to return the form to the school office within 7 days. The Music Bus will then be in touch with you to book students into lessons. Mark Your Diaries - Friday, 26 th of October Parent Info Session - 3pm (and presentation on assembly at 2:40pm) Student Tours - All students will take part in a short interactive session on the bus throughout the afternoon.
