ABOUT NIT WARANGAL National Institute of Technology, Warangal formerly known as Regional Engineering College was established in 1959. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for this institute on October 10, 1959, the first in the chain of 30 NITs in the country. The Institute is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic environment. The Institute currently has 13 academic departments and a few advanced research centres in various disciplines of engineering, pure sciences and management. The Institute offers eight undergraduate programmes (B.Tech.) in engineering, 29 post graduate programmes (MBA, M.Tech., M.Sc. and MCA) in management, engineering, sciences and research programmes in management, engineering, sciences, humanities and physical education. The institute is wellknown for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training programmes for teachers and industrial personnel. ABOUT SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT In the contemporary world of rapidly changing global business, which is technology intensive and consumer oriented, the acumen needed for managers is being revolutionized. Recognizing this, the institute has designed a comprehensive MBA programme exclusively for engineering graduates. Thus came to light the School of Management (SOM) at NIT Warangal. The MBA program offered by the School of Management is a two year course that runs into eight quarters. The program has extensive electives in the specialised areas of Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, Information Technology and allied areas of management. The School of Management provides a wellbalanced combination of academic and practical business oriented content. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP Preamble: Teaching and research go hand in hand and quality of research that a teacher undertakes will improve the quality of teaching. Research emerged as one of the most important aspects in the academic pursuits of higher learning over the world, and it provides the solutions to ever changing human problems. Quality research is possible only when the teachers undergo systematic training in this area. The proposed programme will improve the knowledge and skills of the participants to carry out quality research, enhance their ability to apply right tools and techniques in conducting research and write research papers. OBJECTIVES The key objectives of the workshop are: To enable the participants comprehend the quantitative and qualitative research methods in social science research 2
To enhance the skills of formulation of research questions and hypotheses, review of literature, preparing an appropriate research design, collection of data and analysis To enhance the analytical skills for research and apply right tools and techniques while conducting research To develop the capacity of the participants to write research papers/books/proposals for grants, et. Under the CBP, the participant should be a Lecturer/ Assistant Professor having less than/up to five years of teaching experience in a UGC recognized Indian university/deemed university/college/institutes of national importance and ICSSR Research Institutes and their application should be duly forwarded by the parent institution. This course is open to the faculty members of social science disciplines. Along with the application form (as attached in Annexure I), applicant should send the following documents: (a) A brief CV explaining all academic details with work experience and list of publications (b) Applicants under SC/ST/OBC category must submit a copy of Caste Certificate (c) 200 words write-up on how research engagement in this workshop will influence her/his teaching and engagement with the students (d) 400 words write-up on the future research and publication plan after attending the workshop 3
IMPORTANT DATES Last date for receipt of application : 15 th February, 2019 Notification of list of selected / waitlisted candidates: 19 th February, 2019 Confirmation / Registration by the selected candidates: 22 nd February, 2019 TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION Selected participants (other than local participants) will be provided to and fro travel fares (III A/C train in the shortest route and public transport. Lodging & boarding will be provided at free of cost as per the ICSSR norms. Original travel tickets (by train or bus) have to be enclosed along with TA form for reimbursement. Accommodation to only outstation participants will be provided on a twin sharing basis. CERTIFICATE The participants will be provided certificates on successful completion of the course. It is mandatory for all participants to attend all the classes (or sessions). SELECTION Maximum of 30 participants will be shortlisted (10 from Warangal, 10 from within Telangana and 10 from rest of India) for this two week Capacity Building Programme for Young Social Science Faculty. The committee will select the participants on the basis of their teaching, research experience and write up. The committee decision on selection of participants is final and binding. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Decision on selection will be communicated through e-mail by 19 th February 2019. All selected candidates must send his/her confirmation to the Programme Director positively by 22 nd February, 2019. If any selected candidates failed to confirm then seats will be offered to the waitlisted participants Last date for receipt of application is 15 th February, 2019.
