Yandina State School Newsletter Thursday 18th of February 2016 Week 4 Term 1 Year 6 Leadership Applications - A large number of students have handed in leadership applications to apply for our 2016 Student Leadership Team. I applaud all students who have shown initiative to apply. We will be holding the Student Leader Parade next Friday the 26th of February. Good Luck! Parking - Our school has ample parking. The school has a Drop Off Zone in front of the Prep Building. This area is for drop off only and cars should not be parked unattended in this space. The Drop Off Zone allows enough time for a child or parent to unbuckle seat belts and grab bags out of the boot and for the child to enter the school grounds. Cars should never be unattended by the driver. Older students will be able to do this without parent help. Prep parents please note that this is not a space where you can park and walk your child into school. Please do not park in this area. The parking area on Lalor Road on the Northern boundary of the school is for parents who wish to park and walk their children into school. This is not a Drop Off Zone. We also have the car park across the road with direct access to our wonderful Crossing Supervisors for parents to park and walk students into school. Bus Bay: This are should never have cars accessing for parking or drop off. The C&K Kindergarten kindly let parents park in the extra spaces here after 2:50. School Road on both sides can be used in some areas unless signed otherwise. Please do not park in front of the school gates The Administration Car Park located in front of B Block is not be used by parents. Nambour Police are targeting schools to ensure our children are safe. Yandina State School is a school that the police will and have visited. Parents please be aware that you may be fined for disobeying the road rules in these areas. Parents Please Note: It is very distracting for children (especially) and teachers to have parents hovering at doors and windows when last minute messages are being given out at the end of the day. Please assist by keeping an appropriate distance and out of sight until the bell has gone. Extreme Weather Events - In times of extreme weather the school will do it s best to keep families updated by the school website, text and Facebook page. Please access these information services first before calling the school. School Absence Hot Line The school has a set phone number for a recorded voice service which we request you use to leave details about your child s absence. Please use this number 5472 9366 to advise the school of absences. This will dramatically help Karyn in the office with the large amount of phone calls in the morning. And finally a big THANK YOU to Nate s dad Scott and Brooklyn s mum Rachael from Prep T they sourced and donated brand new carpet squares for the Prep T students to sit on at parade. This is greatly appreciated!! Please be aware that there is NO PARADE this Friday the 19th of February, and the first P&C Meeting of 2016 has been rescheduled to Monday the 22nd of February at 4:30pm in the Resource Centre. P&C Meeting Our first P&C meeting of the year will be held next Monday the 22nd of February at 4:30pm in the library. This meeting is a great one to attend as we discuss fundraising for the year and also ways in which we can make our school even more amazing! Forms have been placed around most classrooms and tuckshop asking for feedback and ideas to discuss at the meeting. If you cannot make the meeting this is a great opportunity to put your ideas forward. Tuckshop Our amazing Tuckshop ladies are still looking for helpers. You don't need experience to be helpful. If you can flip pikelets and make jelly we want you! Donations This month 2/3H is the class for donations, a list would have been sent home with your child. If you can't donate time something off the list is always appreciated. Second Hand Uniforms We are looking for a volunteer to manage our second hand uniform shop. The shop has previously been open on Friday mornings but this can be changed if needed. Please let us know if you could spare a hour a week. Courtney Brown P&C President Find us on facebook.
