of accounting and f inance Certificate IV in Bookkeeping FNS40211 The Certificate IV in Bookkeeping is a nationally accredited course that has been specially designed to cover the specialised information you will need to meet the modern demands of the financial services industry. This course would be very suitable for small business bookkeepers who want to be able to complete their own books of accounts and BAS statements, or for those seeking to work for a number of outside clients. You might also aim to find employment in an organisation or business in a range of industries. This qualification also includes the requirements set out by The Tax Practitioners Board for registering as a Business Activity Statements (BAS) agent. It would be suitable for you if you are aiming to formalise your current skills or expand your career opportunities. The Certificate in MYOB 19.7 is also included in this course as an optional elective, giving you valuable exposure to a computerised accounting system. This course will train you to set up and maintain computerised accounting systems, prepare financial statements and carry out payroll procedures. Delivered online, this course can be done flexibly in your own time, allowing you to structure your work and study around your current commitments. OpenSpace is Open Colleges online campus. Through OpenSpace you will: > access your learning materials and assessments > undertake assessments or upload assessments > engage and interact with your trainer > participate in student forums and find a study buddy > access your assessment grades and feedback > access student support services > gain access to the Gale Library. What learning materials are included with this course? Your learning materials are accessed through OpenSpace. You have the option to receive your core learning materials, such as workbooks, by mail for a small surcharge. This is referred to as the print option. What about Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)? We understand that you may already have many skills and areas of expertise that you have obtained in different ways and these are recognised through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. New educational requirements New educational requirements have now been implemented for Business Activity Statements (BAS) agent applications. To register or renew your registration as a BAS agent from this date, you will need to have completed: > at least a Certificate IV in Accounting or Certificate IV in Bookkeeping; and > a formal approved course in GST/BAS which includes both BAS/Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) and payroll components. This Certificate IV in Bookkeeper meets these new educational requirements. If you are seeking BAS agent registration, check the current registration requirements with the TPB at http://www.tpb.gov.au.

FNS40211 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping What is the duration of the course? The maximum duration for the course is 24 months. To complete the course in this timeframe, we recommend that you study a minimum of 5 hours per week. This is a guide only the time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of skill and knowledge. What are the entry requirements for the course? Education Requirements There are no formal education entry requirements for this qualification. Minimum Age Requirements You will need to be at least 18 years old. English Language Requirements This course requires you to read comprehensive learner workbooks and textbooks, undertake a range of written assessments, undertake independent research activities and engage in online forums and discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires the successful completion of English to Year 12 level. If you have not successfully completed English at Year 12 level, you can demonstrate equivalency in one of the following: > successful completion of a Nationally Recognised Training qualification at Certificate III level or higher; or > 3 years relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication. Open Colleges recognises that not all people are able to read, write and perform calculations to the same standard. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a nationally recognised qualification FNS40211 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping awarded by Open Colleges Pty Ltd (Provider Number 90796). If you complete the optional MYOB elective, you will also receive the Open Colleges Professional Certificate in MYOB 19.7. Open Colleges is a Registered Training Organisation. FNS40211 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping is deemed equivalent to and has been superseded by FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping on the 25th March 2015. Open Colleges will transition to the new qualification in the near future. Professional accreditation This course also includes a 12 month student membership to the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. Articulation pathways Successful completion of the FNS40211 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping provides partial articulation into the FNS50210 Diploma of Accounting.
