Personal Statement Final Thoughts Start early, get feedback, and revise Define your motivation in topics that you are passionate about Provide information to support & enhance the review process Add clarity, depth, context, and meaning the application. Don t make it about others in your family - You should be the STAR! How has your background motivated/inspired you? Not about the situation but how you grew from it. Detailed, meaningful, and with depth What did you choose to do in HS? What did you learn from it? How did you apply what you learned to other aspects of your life? Resources on DNHS Counseling website/senior News & Naviance Decisions are never made on the personal statement alone 36

Students with sufficient financial need can qualify for even more grants to cover other educational expenses, such as room and board, books, and transportation. Financial aid estimator: www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/paying-foruc/financial-aid. Gives families a better idea of the total amount of financial aid they might receive.
