8th September 2016 Issue No. 28 PRINCIPAL S NEWS PRINCIPAL S NEWS We are so proud of our amazing staff and students who were apart of the State School Spectacular. A Big Thank you to all teachers, parents and students who were involved. Kananook Primary School at the Victorian State Schools Spectacular Jo Rich has again made possible an amazing experience for our students at Kananook Primary School. Nineteen students from our school joined with over a thousand other students from just over 60 other Victorian State schools to form the Mass Choir at this year s Victorian State Schools Spectacular. Not only do the students get to sing and dance as a member of the Mass Choir, they get to watch the best talent in State Schools perform in a huge variety of performances. I am sure that this experience is something that will stay with all the participants for many years to come and may even inspire them to continue with the Performing Arts in their future years. Term 3 Important Calendar Dates Thursday 15th September School Production Friday 16th September Footy Parade 11.30-1.30pm Special Lunch Last Day of Term finish at 2:30pm Term 4 Monday October 3rd As part of the show all participants have to be switched on at all times but also be flexible as there are often last minute changes that the creative directors make to the production. The mass choir needs to act as one to create the desired effect so they have to follow instructions from the choir master and the assistants throughout the two and a half show. Breaks between rehearsals and shows are often short to make the most of the time given at the venue which means that the students need to move quickly with an adult to get to where they need in the given time. This is the fifth year I have assisted Jo and I am pleased to say that the students attitude and behaviour was fantastic over both the rehearsal day and the performance day at Hi Sense arena both extremely long days filled with much anticipation and excitement! Their conduct and ability to follow instructions made it much easier for Jo, Jenny McCulloch, Trish Brumbaugh and myself to ensure they were always in the right place at the right time. I know I have many fantastic memories of my experience at Victorian State Schools Spectacular that will stay with me forever thanks to Jo Rich s dedication to this event.
