Newsletter Dates Term 4 Oct 6, 20, Nov 3, 17, Dec 1 & 15 Assembly Dates Term 4 2.30pm Friday Oct 14, 28, Nov 11, 25 & Dec 9 Principal s Report Well this is the last newsletter for this term as next week is our last week before the term holidays. A reminder that Friday 16 th September is the last day of this term. There will be an adjusted timetable for the last day. The whole school assembly will begin at 11:30 am. Children will eat their lunch in the classroom from 12:25 to 12:35pm. Lunch recess will run from 12:35 to 1:20pm. School will be dismissed at 2:30pm for the term break. Over the holidays we are continuing the maintenance program around the school. During the holidays we will have shade cloth over the senior playground re- installed and a new cover installed over the junior sand pit. Please make sure you stay safe over the holidays and return to school in Term 4 fit and well. Road Safety With the holidays a week away, I would like to remind everyone about the importance of staying safe and seen on and around our roads. Either as a driver, a passenger, or as a pedestrian, we all must negotiate the road traffic environment on a daily basis. Children are especially vulnerable around vehicles and roads due to their size and capabilities. Please take the opportunity to talk to your children to become safer roadusers. Network Concert at The Quin Auditorium On Wednesday night we had 38 children from grade 4 to grade 6 perform in the annual Deer Park Network Schools Performing Arts Concert at the Quin Auditorium in Braybrook. The 42 children who represented our school on the night were fantastic, they made their parents and the school very proud. The work they have done to fine tune their skills for this performance since term one definitely paid off on the night. On behalf of the students who participated and the school I would like to acknowledge all the work that Mrs Pisano, Mrs Pearce and Mrs Eckardt have put in over the 3 terms this year to make our school s performances the highlight of the night. I would also like to thank Mrs Boyton, Mrs Keiper, Ms Kretiuk, Ms Brkovic, Ms.Princi and Mr Tomkins for assisting on the night of the concert. Sun Smart Term 4 Just a reminder, our school is a Sun Smart School and all students are required to wear a school hat in Term 4 to help protect them from the sun. Sun Screen is also available in every class room for children to apply before they go outside. Yours sincerely, Mark Mills, Principal.

CANTEEN NEWS FOREIGN, DAMAGED AND INCORRECT MONEY The school canteen has had a large volume of lunch orders with foreign, damaged and incorrect money. Foreign and damaged coins are not accepted by the coin counter at the bank, so if your child has a lunch order with any of this money, or incorrect money, the canteen will give your child a lunch order ONLY to the value of the correct money. Unfortunately, because of the high volume of lunch orders that the canteen has to deal with, it is not possible to contact students to choose something else, however they will be given something similar to what they had ordered. EMERGENCY LUNCHES There have been a number of emergency lunch orders given to students and the money has not been paid back to the canteen. If your child has had or does have an emergency lunch order, they will bring home a written order to say that they have received an emergency lunch order and that $1 is owed to the canteen. Emergency lunch orders are for unforseen situations not continual daily use. We do hope this clears up any misunderstandings about the altered lunch orders that your child may have received. Thank you 2017 ONLINE BOOKLIST ORDERING INFORMATION This year Cairnlea Park Primary School will be offering the online ordering system for payment of the 2017 student book packs and essential educational items, with our stationery supplier Officemax. Unfortunately, due to the Department of Education s change in school s funding, the school cannot bear the cost of student book packs and essential educational items that was offered in 2016, to parents who held a Healthcare or Pension card. Therefore, ALL PARENTS will need to do online ordering for their child/ren s 2017 book pack and essential educational items. We have managed however to keep the cost down to $150 for book pack and essential educational items which includes class materials, software and an incursion program. Ordering can ONLY be made through the Officemax website. The online ordering system is much easier for parents with your child/ren s book pack delivered by Australia Post to your home or nominated address. If you are not home, notification will be left by Australia Post to pick up your parcel from the post office. Also there will be no processing fee charged. More detailed information of dates and procedure will be sent home to parents as well as being be posted on tiqbiz and in the newsletter. If you require any more information please contact myself or the administration staff. Maree Bell Business Manager

Father s Day Stall The Father s Day stall was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who supported our stall. As always the students were full of excitement when they visited the stall last week and they all left very pleased with their purchases. We hope all the Dads, Granddads and/or male carers were delighted with their specially selected gifts. A HUGE thank you to the following parents for volunteering their time to help at the stall, Dawn Rose, Maria Kiselis, Victoria Musumeci, Tammy Bugeja and Susan Cagdas. We would also like to acknowledge and thank our friends at Coles and Rock n Kebabs at Cairnlea Shopping Centre who kindly donated prizes for our Father s Day Raffle.
