Pre-Calculus 30S Results Tracking Sheets The results tracking sheets are a useful communication tool between teacher and student. Instead of just getting one final grade on each assessment, you will be able to use these sheets to precisely track all the outcomes in the course. Then, you will be able to make good decisions about which areas to review. Research shows that being self-aware and having good information helps make people successful. Using these sheets, you will have the information you need to improve in Pre-Calculus 30S! Good luck! How To Use Each box represents an outcome. Outcomes are small pieces of the overall math puzzle. The box names the outcome and gives it a basic description. At the top of each box is the cumulative exercise number (e.g. Ex. 12) and outcome ID (e.g. B-4). These numbers will help you find the outcome in your notes, in review sheets, and in your homework. At the bottom of each outcome box is space for you to write in your results. These results will tell you which outcomes you need to review. They will also allow you to track your success over time. Here is an example: Outcome ID Outcome Name Textbook reference A-1 Abolute Value 7.1 Students will demonstrate an understanding of the absolute value of real numbers. Quiz 1 (Sept 15) Test 1 (Sept 25) Test 2 (Oct 9) Test 4 (Nov 6) Exam Review (Jan 14) 6 12 13 9 11 (43%) (55%) (81%) (75%) (79%) 14 22 16 12 14 RESULTS TRACKING In the example, the student started by struggling with this outcome on Quiz 1 and Test 1. But, she focused on other outcomes. Then, after Test 1, she decided to review A-1 because she knew it was coming up again on Test 2. She re-read her page of notes on the topic, re-did some Exercises, and did the A-1 review sheet. When she had questions about A-1, she asked the teacher. Then, she did great on this outcome on Test 2! After that, she kept tracking it to make sure she didn t need to focus too much and generally kept up the good work.

How NOT To Use The example is great, but beware! Just because you scored high on an outcome once doesn t mean that you don t look at it again. Before every assessment, you will find out exactly which outcomes are going to be tested. The tracking sheet doesn t tell you don t bother studying A-3 ; it says you are doing good on A- 3 and should put more priority on other topics. This is not rocket-science: When you find out something is on the test, you review it. Use your time wisely and focus on challenges, but don t forget to at least check in on your best outcomes! Keep Your Notes Organized! Every lesson will focus on only one outcome. The title, the outcome ID, and the exercise number will all be given. Write that at the top of the page and keep it in order. When you discover that A-4 is your target, that s useless if you can t find it! Algebra and Number A-1 Absolute Value 7.1 Students will demonstrate an understanding of the absolute value of real numbers. A-2 Operations on Radicals and Radical Expressions 5.1 and 5.2 Students will solve problems that involve operations on radicals and radical expressions with numerical and variable radicands.

A-3 Radical Equations 5.3 Students will solve problems that involve radical equations. A-4 Equivalent forms of Rational Expressions 6.1 Students will learn to determine equivalent forms of rational expressions A-5 Operations on Rational Expressions 6.2 and 6.3 Students will learn to perform operations on rational expressions. Addition/subtraction Multiplication/division A-6 Rational Equations 6.4 Students will learn to solve problems that involve rational equations.

Trigonometry T-1 Angles in Standard Position 2.1 Students will demonstrate an understanding of angles in standard position T-2 Trigonometric Ratios 2.2 Students will learn to solve problems using sine, cosine and tangent. T-3 Sine Law and Cosine Law Sine Law 2.3 Cosine Law 2.4 Students will learn to solve problems, using the cosine law and sine law, including the ambiguous case.

Relations and Functions R-1 Factoring 4.2 Students will demonstrate that they can factor complex trinomials and difference of squares R-2 Graphing Absolute Value Functions 7.2 and 7.3 Students will graph and analyze absolute value functions R-3 Quadratic Functions Vertex Form 3.1 Students will analyze quadratic functions and determine the Vertex Domain and range Direction of opening Axis of symmetry intercepts R-4 Quadratic Functions Standard Form 3.2 and 3.3 Students will analyze quadratic functions and determine the Vertex Domain and range Direction of opening Axis of symmetry Intercepts Students will demonstrate their ability to complete the square

R-5 Problems involving Quadratic Equations 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 Students will learn to solve problems that involve quadratic equations. Students will solve quadratic equations using a variety of methods R-6 Systems of non-linear equations 8.1 and 8.2 Students will learn to solve non-linear systems of equations graphically and algebraically. These systems will include linear-quadratic equations quadratic-quadratic equations R-7 Linear and Quadratic Inequalities in two variables 9.1 and 9.3 Students will learn to solve linear inequalities in two variables. R-8 Quadratic Inequalities in one variable 9.2 Students will learn to solve problems that involve quadratic inequalities in one variable.
