The Master s degree New Markets and Europe, offered by ALTIS - the Postgraduate School Business & Society of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan Campus and beginning in January of 008, provides students with both the theoretical and practical tools necessary to become international business leaders. The Master s program offers participants from China, India, South America, Africa and the Mediterranean basin the unique opportunity to work and study in close contact with Italian and European companies interested in doing business in their country of origin. Participants will gain the skills, knowledge and fi rst hand experience that will make them ideal management candidates for those companies. PROSPECTS Italian and European business face an ever mounting competitive challenge from emerging economies. Emerging economies seek a growing presence in established markets. The direct encounter between these two subjects that occurs in the person of the student enhances the possibility of a collaboration that can positively affect both the economic progress of New Markets and the competitive stance of Italian and European business. THE MASTER S PROGRAM LANGUAGE The offi cial course language is English. To facilitate the internship experience, business meetings, and daily life students will be offered an Italian language course that will run parallel to the Master s calendar. For those interested, an optional intensive Italian language course will be available during the two weeks prior to the start of the Master (January 9 th - 18 th 008). STRUCTURE The program of the Master s includes 500 course hours and an 11 week internship. Courses will contain theoretical lectures, case studies, meetings with entrepreneurs and executives, and visits to companies and industrial clusters. Coursework is structured in the following manner: 96 hours of core management courses 130 hours dedicated to the development of knowledge and competencies related to the European scenario 70 hours dedicated to specifi c entrepreneurial and management tools. INTERNSHIP The Master s program includes an 11 week internship worth 17 credits. The ALTIS network of companies, fi nancial institutions, industry clusters and chambers of commerce allow for the structuring of an internship customized to the specifi c interests of each participant. In particular, students will be involved with Italian fi rms that are operating or are planning to operate in their native country. The goal of the internship program is to offer participants: fi rsthand experience of real world business issues and solutions the opportunity to initiate contacts for future business and partnerships. CALENDAR The Master s program begins January 1 st 008 and ends December 1 th 008. Courses will be held from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Monday though Friday. Some afternoons will be dedicated to Italian lessons, while others will be used to organize meetings with managers, entrepreneurs and opinion leaders. The program is divided as follows: Lectures Exams I Term 1 January 9 February 008 3 March 7 March 008 II Term 10 March April 008 8 April 30 April III Term 5 May 13 June 008 16 June 0 June 008 IV Term 3 June 5 July 008 8 July 31 July 008 Short Term 1 September 1 September Internship: from the 3 rd week of September until the 1 st week of December 008. Graduation: 9 th - 1 th December 008. FINAL DIPLOMA The Master s degree will be granted by ALTIS - Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore after the completion of 68 credits. CAREER BUILDING During the course and the internship, ALTIS offers support to each student in the planning of a career path by: advising on and improving the resume analysing and evaluating career expectations arranging single/collective encounters with entrepreneurs and other professionals overseeing and tutoring the internship program ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS In order to participate in the Master s program students must: possess a minimum 3 year University degree, preferably in business management, economics or social sciences (other degrees will be considered in the context of the candidate s history and work experience) pass a selection based on the assessment of the candidates resume, letters of reference, interview and motivational questionnaire. Students with signifi cant work experience will be granted added consideration in the selection process. Student recruitment is conducted by ALTIS in collaboration with the University partners, and companies involved in the program.

Certifi ed transcripts of grades 3. Resume. Two letters of reference (you can fi nd guidelines on the ALTIS web-site) 5. Three passport-size photos 6. Dichiarazione di Valore* The requested documents must be received at: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore - Uffi cio Master Via Carducci, 8/30 013 Milan - Italy *Please consider this important information: any Degree Certifi cate issued by a foreign country must be recognized by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The Italian Diplomatic Delegation of the country/region where the student completed his/her university studies is the only body authorized to issue a Dichiarazione di Valore (certifi cate of value) that authenticates a foreign degree. In order to obtain the Dichiarazione di Valore the applicant must provide a notarized translation of the diploma in the Italian language to the relevant Italian consulate or embassy. For EU citizens: The original degree certifi cate, the Italian translation and the Dichiarazione di Valore must be submitted to Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Uffi cio Master) in order to complete the application. Non-EU citizens are required to apply through the Italian Diplomatic Delegation of the Country in which they are resident. The Applicant will be contacted for an in-person or phone interview. Once admitted applicants wishing to confi rm their acceptance are required to enrol by the date indicated in the admission letter and pay an entrance fee of 1,000 (non refundable), which will be deducted from the Master s tuition fee. Beginning in April 007, applications will be reviewed at the end of each month and notice of acceptance will be immediately communicated. The earlier applications are received the greater their chance of admittance. Applications must be submitted no later than September 30 th, 007. Once accepted, students are required to complete their registration by December 31 st, 007. The ALTIS administration offi ce can assist the students in their effort to obtain both the VISA and the diploma s translation by sending a letter of invitation to the Master s program to the relevant consular offi ces. COSTS OF THE MASTER The tuition fee is EUR 10,500. The cost of living (housing, meals, transportation, and other expenses) in Milan can range from EUR 600-900 monthly. FINANCING AND SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships of the following amounts may be awarded: A. Scholarships for tuition and accommodation: EUR 15,000 B. Scholarship for tuition: EUR 10,000 C. Scholarships for partial tuition: EUR 5,000 Only those candidates who have passed the selection process and are admitted to the Masters Program are eligible to apply for the scholarships. ALTIS also assists candidates in searching for funds by placing at their disposal the documentation required for fi nancial support applications. Through agreements with local banks Università Cattolica can provide low-interest loans available to admitted students. In addition, other scholarships may be available through government and private programs in the student s home country. Banks in all countries offer low-interest loans for post-graduate education. It is recommended that candidates explore scholarship opportunities offered by their local Italian Cultural Institute.
