Gratiot County 4-H, it is that time of year again: Time for the Gratiot County Science Expo! The Expo will be taking place on Thursday, August 3, from 10 AM until 2 PM at the Merchant Building during Kids' Day at the fair. The purpose of this event is to get the youth of Gratiot County excited about science and technology and provide them with an opportunity to "Learn by doing" with hands-on activities. In order to do all of that we need volunteers. We are looking for Gratiot County Youth interested in sharing their science and technology projects with the public. Don't have a project? That's fine too! We have hands on activities waiting for someone to run them. If you would like to volunteer or have questions, contact Chloe Brittain at gratiotscienceexpo@gmail.com or Chris Thompson at the Extension Office. 4 V O L U N T E E R O P P O R T U N I T I E S Summer volunteer opportunities Do you have a 4-H project you are passionate about? Would you like to share it with the community? Do you want to help promote 4-H? We have an opportunity for both youth and adults to participate in a local youth program by offering activities and programming. There are many ways to participate from one-time events to summer long programs. This would be a great opportunity for youth to develop leadership skills and share your love of 4-H. For more information, contact Chris at 989-875-5295 or thom1367@anr.msu.edu if you would be interested in volunteering. Volunteers are needed to help out at all sorts of different educational stations related to the dairy production happening on the farm. Those stations range from cow health, housing, maternity, nutrition, all the way to nutrient management. Those spots will be filled with knowledgeable volunteers who serve as resource people who can answer questions the public may have while touring the farm. We are also looking for volunteers to help with foot traffic on the farm, clear breakfast tables, monitor trash bins, distribute surveys & kids quizzes, and hand out treats. Contact Chris at 989-875-5295 or thom1367@anr.msu.edu if you would be interested in volunteering.
