Chris does not speak to orchid societies, but he makes an exception for us! Gubler orchid founder, Heinrich Gubler, a native of Switzerland began growing orchids in 1918. Moved to Los Angeles in 1952, started Gubler Orchids in Altadena and in 1958 moved to Pasadena CA. Hans developed the concept of a packaged orchid seedling in 1965, he revolutionized the merchandising of plants. The nursery moved to Landers, CA in 1975 and Chris joined the family business in 1981. Chris majored in Ornamental Horticulture with minors in Botany and Marketing and graduated from California Polytechnic, Pomona. Gubler s purchased an additional nursery in Lucerne Valley (30 miles from Landers) and has over 155,000 sq. ft. of greenhouses in production. A complete line of orchid essentials are also available in addition to orchid plants. Gubler Orchids is one of the few orchid nurseries in the US that are owned and successfully operated by third generation orchid growers. Gubler Orchids has been a very generous donor to our auction and we were pleased to be in the Morongo Valley Orchid Show in October. Gubler Orchids will be supplying the opportunity table. =
