St Luke s Catholic Primary School Newsletter 17th November 2017 Ordinary Time This has been an eventful week at St.Luke's, a week that is reflected on with such pride. It began last Sunday when two of our year six pupils represented the school, placing a wreath at the memorial service at St. Laurences Church. Other members of our school community also attended either representing groups such as; Beavers, Cubs, Brownies or simply attending with their family. We were proud to join our local community in celebrating this important occasion. This week is Anti-Bullying week. We have explored the theme of being unique through a range of activities. At our assembly on Wednesday we were really proud of the thoughtful responses of our pupils. Again this year, a pupil in year five has organised the 'Operation Christmas Child' appeal within our school. This demonstrates the outward vision, care and compassion of our pupils. Finally today the theme of our assembly reflected on UK Parliament week. Extending our vision to include our place beyond our local Community and democracy. The children shared interesting facts about British Values, parliament, debating and using your vote. Please see the calendar of December events on page 4 or on our website,. Menu Week 2 As part of UK Parliament Week, each class has spent the week finding out about democracy in our country. During this morning's assembly, the children shared many interesting facts about some important parts of our British Values work: parliament, debating and the importance of using your vote. Well done to all of the classes for their hard work this week. #UKPW17 Congratulations to Anna Hind and Jack Ross who were chosen to represent St Luke s this week at Helsby High School in a Gifted and Talented workshop for play leaders. We were very proud of them and they had a really great day. St Luke s Pre-School This week we transformed our home corner into a castle, complete with a draw bridge and knights table. The children have loved exploring the area and creating their own medieval stories. They have also had the opportunity to make their own crowns and shields and this afternoon they will make cakes as the children have advised us... 'all kings and queens eat cakes in their castle!!'. Also well done to all the pre-school children for taking part and donating to children in need.
