There was a huge range of artefacts and photos and lots of good discussion, questions and answers. Students discovered that some of them had seen things such as significant scar trees and burial trees in their journeys with family and at other times. The various languages spoken around this local and surrounding areas were introduced, the laws and lore of clans and tribes, totems, corroboree, all were introduced and explained by Uncle Rick. For anyone wanting to know a little bit more, this site is a good start: http://www.vaclang.org.au There are links to various other areas of interest and other related organisations that provide information on our indigenous history and culture, as well as current reports and findings. Don t forget! (as if ) This coming Monday 2 nd, is a student free day and Tuesday is a public holiday, so students will return to school on Wednesday 4 th. Teachers will be using Monday to prepare for 2016, begin end of semester reporting and a number of other important work requirements. P-2 Movie Night P-2 students are remaining at school tonight for the annual Movie Night. Families can collect students at 8.30pm. Thank you to Parents Club who have organised the feeding of this hungry lot! Mrs O Out and About! I will be out of the school today and tomorrow, so please speak to Miss H if there is anything urgent. I will be at the Campaspe Network Principals Wellbeing conference today and tomorrow I will be attending the High Performance Learning /Culture program with the other small schools in our cluster. This is aimed at making sure that our students have access to the highest quality teaching and learning, regardless of their geographic location. Men s Shed Grade 3-6 students spent yesterday afternoon at the Men s Shed, helping prepare decorations for the community. This is a reminder of just how close Christmas is! Kids Cup The running of the Kids Cup will take place tomorrow at 2.45pm. Families and friends are invited to attend this spectacle! Participants and contenders are asked to wear colourful shirts, sashes or hats. Judge s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into! Following the running of the Kids Cup will be the regular school assembly. Grade 3, 4, 5, & 6 would like to invite you to be in our audience for a fun-filled afternoon of Family Feud. In the commercial breaks we will be presenting infomercials we have created. WHEN: Monday 9 th WHERE: grade 3-6 classroom TIME: 2.15-3.15 Regional Basketball and Softball Championships Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the basketball & softball championships due to limited numbers wanting to attend. Thanks very much to all those who were able to volunteer to drive students or be an official. Hopefully we will be able to attend this competition in the future. Thanks, Mrs Foley
