BENCH ELEMENTARY 250-743-5552 SUPERVISION Just a reminder that supervision doesn t start until 8:00 am, so please do your best to ensure your child s safety by dropping them off after that time. INFORMATION SHARING EMAIL is our primary mode of communication and updates, newsletters and any necessary information will be sent regularly. Please make sure that you are receiving our emails. Official information is also accessible on the BENCH ELEMENTARY Facebook page https:// www.facebook.com/benchelementary/ and on our website. https://bench.sd79.bc.ca INCLEMENT WEATHER When it is raining, we do NOT keep the children inside. Most want and need to go outside and run off some energy. Children should be wearing appropriate clothing for the weather. This type of season typically sees us with rain, cold and sometimes snow. Rain boots, rain coat,indoor shoes and an extra change of clothes is recommended for your child s comfort. We encourage children to remember that they are responsible to make good choices and keep themselves dry as much as possible. BE PREPARED FOR THE WEATHER! SCHOOL CLOSURES Any notice of official closings due to weather will be reported on JUICE FM (89.7), CBC FM (90.5), CFAX FM (1070) and CTV VI News by 6:00am. Notification on the School District #79 website will occur as soon as possible. 2
BENCH ELEMENTARY 250-743-5552 SCHOOL WINTER CONCERT Divisions 9-18 Mr. Page will be assisting Mrs. Stephen with our Division 9-18 students Winter Wonderland performance on Dec. 7 but he is saving his talents for our Spring Production on May 10 for Divisions 1 through 8...expect musical instruments, singing and much more! HALLOWEEN Family Halloween Dance is Thursday, October 26 from 5:30 until 8PM, come dance to the spooky beats of Mrs. Fitzpatrick. We are having our pumpkin carving contest on Halloween this year. Please bring your pumpkins into the gym the morning of Tuesday, October 31. Our Halloween parade is in the afternoon on the Tuesday, please make sure the costumes are appropriate for all age levels... 3
REMEMBRANCE DAY We are holding our Remembrance Day ceremony on November 10th at 10:30 am. We would like to invite all past and present military and RCMP and other emergency safety personnel to be honoured for their service. Please RSVP confirming your attendance so we can have a chair ready for you at the front. Thank you for your service! TERRY FOX RUN We had a very successful run last Friday October 6th. Thank you to our parents and community for their support. The school raised $1350. 4
