LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon successfully completing this course, you should be able to: 1. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation. 2. Using Access create database tables, perform sorts and queries, and prepare forms and reports. 3. Manage files and folders. 4. Research topics using the Internet. 5. Participate in on-line class discussions. 6. Create an eportfolio. 7. Research and present an ipad App applicable for business usage. 8. Compare and price out the purchase of a personal computer. 9. Analyze and solve problems relating to the implementation and application of technology. 10. Troubleshoot hardware and software concerns. 11. Work under pressure of time. 12. Provide care in usage of equipment and observance of department and facility procedures. The assignments are designed as learning tools and should be reviewed ahead of class without a computer and then repeated in lab class using the software to help the student apply the skills introduced therein. All assignments are due on or before the due date specified in class. LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE GRADED. Assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late assignments will not be accepted without prior arrangements being made. While students are encouraged to help each other, assignments must be individual work, unless designated as group assignments. In cases of plagiarism, no marks will be awarded. Please refer to College policy for other possible disciplinary action. Students should anticipate an additional 3 to 5 hours of work each week for this course. It is your responsibility to monitor your workload and bring to the attention of the instructor situations where you are experiencing difficulties operating within this guideline. As per the RDC Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy which states students have a responsibility to conduct themselves in a manner which does not disrupt or inhibit the learning process ; and with respect for your fellow students, it is expected that cell phones and other communication devices be turned off during class, lab, and examination times. During these times, laptop computers are to be utilized for approved classroom activities only. Should your phone/computer/communication device cause an interruption during these times, you will be asked to leave the room for the remainder of the scheduled period; including examinations. After reviewing their marks to this point, students should make an appointment with the instructor to discuss their progress and concerns if the cumulative total to this point is less than 20 marks.
