PUPIL FREE DAYS Friday 10th June will be a report writing day for teaching staff. No students are required at school on that day. Monday 13th June is the Queen s Birthday Public Holiday. VSCC BMX DATES Friday 5 August Friday 19th August Friday 2nd September WYNDHAM KNOX SHEPPARTON Friday 16th September (Last day of term 3) PORTLAND Friday 14th October BENDIGO Once again, we will be entering the VSCC in the BMX division. After winning the overall aggregate for the Champion School for the last 3 years, we are once again looking forward to defending this title. Students are keen to get out on our BMX track to start practising. BMX is a great way to get fit, have fun and develop coordination and resilience. This is not a compulsory activity. School will run as normal for those students not wishing to compete in the BMX events. Families are most welcome to attend the events to support our school. For students to participate at the racing, a parent or guardian will need to be present due to the nature of this sport. Further information will be made available closer to the events.
BLACK RANGES FOOTBALL AND NETBALL Last week, some of our senior students joined with students from Buangor and Maroona Primary school to compete in the Black Ranges Football and Netball competition in Stawell. All students had a great day showing fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork. Football results 1 win, 1 draw and 2 losses. Netball results 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss
PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS DAY It was great to see a fantastic turn out of family members for our Parents and Grandparents day at school recently. Students proudly showed off their classrooms and school work, as well as getting their families to join in various games and activities. The day concluded with a delicious morning tea cooked by our students.
ART WHOLE SCHOOL PROJECT Students have been working as a team to produce a poster on our School Values and what School means to them.
Well done to Karla, Amellia, Cody, Mark, Owen and Harlan who all received Reading Eggs awards recently. Keep up the great work! ABC Reading Eggs is a program we use to support children learning to read in a fun and interactive online environment. This program supports children from as young as 3 years, up to 13 years of age. IXL is a web based program which targets Maths for all grades from Kindergarten to Year 12. Congratulations to Adelicia, Brayden, Lily, Emily and Trinity who were awarded with IXL certificates this week. Well done! SPELLING CHAMPIONS Well done Henry, Adelicia, Lily, Rhys and Mark!
SCHOOL FUNDRAISING Friday 3rd June JUNE COMMUNITY DINNER All families are invited to Chop up at the oval tomorrow (Friday 3rd June) from 9am. Helpers are also need to assist with the running of the dinner tomorrow night selling tickets at the door, serving, cleaning up etc. Please see Libby or Lydia if you have any questions. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sunday 12th June ENDURANCE HORSE RIDE DINNER Over the past few years, Moyston Primary School have cooked a meal for the Endurance horse riders. This meal is a great fundraiser for the school as well as supporting a fantastic local event. The meal this year will be held on Sunday 12th June. This meal is a little different to Community Dinners as the horse riders filter in to the oval over the evening ready for their meal. Chop Up for this meal will be on Sunday morning (12th June) in the school portable from 9am. Students will be baking slices at school but we are also after donations of biscuits or other sweets to make dessert platters. Helpers are also needed on the Sunday night, if you are able to help in any way, please see Kelly.
GRASSROOTS FOOTBALL CERTIFICATE (SOCCER) FREE! Sunday 26th June 10am 1pm at Alexandra Oval Ararat. This course is open to teachers, parents or anyone within your school community that would be interested in coaching soccer. The course itself is designed to teach participants the basics of coaching soccer to primary school aged children. It is entirely practical, there is no assessment and it is free of charge to participate. Discovery phase" For coaches training 5-9 year old players The 3 hour course is fully practical and encourages the coach to develop practices that are based on FUN. The emphasis is on natural development i.e. learning by PLAYING football. No coaching but organising FUN football exercises is the key to helping players build a love for the game. Another highlight of the course is that the coaches are exposed to basic rules of the game as well as tips and hints on building a football culture in a completely practical setting. AFL Victoria s holiday programs are back for the Term 2 School Holidays 2016! Programs run from 9am to 3pm $73 To register visit aflholidayprograms.com.au The program builds on the skills of children who have already been introduced to the game and also teaches children with limited to no experience of Australian Football to the skills of the game. NO experience is necessary The program is a fun and inclusive program for boys and girls and includes skill development, fun activities, minor games and modified games. The program is delivered by Level 1 accredited coaches, with a coaching ratio of no more than 20 participants per coach.
