English You will sit one test in English and it will be a writing test. In addition, some students will be invited to sit the Extension Paper which will ask you to respond to the writer s craft in any novel recommended on the Reading Road plus one other of your choice. For the writing test, you will be asked to write an article that explains your viewpoint to a given audience. You will need to revise the features of an article and you will need to recognise whether it is an article that discusses or an article that argues a case. You will need to use Tardis to help you with your technical accuracy. 1) Beginnings and ends of sentences 2) Adverbs at the beginning of sentences 3) The semi colon 4) Tip top paragraphs 5) The apostrophe for contractions 6) Punctuation of speech Format Purpose Features article To argue Title: state what is being discussed Introduction: to the issues involved and your viewpoint Arguments: for your viewpoint, with reasons, evidence and examples Answers to any argument against your viewpoint, with reasons, evidence and examples Conclusion: to sum up your viewpoint and arguments To discuss Title: a headline to sum up the topic Introduction: a statement or question to set the scene and focus on the topic Main section: detailed examples and comments Conclusion/recommendations: what you think should happen (for the reader to consider) *Practise writing an article for a magazine aimed at teenagers, which argues the case for students to do community service one afternoon every week instead of lessons. *Practise writing an article for The Hodgson Highlight in which you discuss how successful the Mobile Phone policy has been! French Sets 3 MFL Revise work from book Voila 2 as follows: Chapter 2 Free time activities and last weekend Chapter 5 Friends, stars and a day in the past Chapter 6 What you do as a family Both classes will receive vocab sheets and will be doing exam prep in class. French Sets 4 These classes will be assessed on free time activities, sport, music and daily routine. They will receive vocab sheets and will be doing exam prep in class. Spanish All sets should revise work done last half term on free time and this half term on food. Exam details will be noted in exercise books and planners. German Sets 1 and 2 on both sides of the year are doing a German reading and writing assessment in the hall. Students should revise language to do with: Pocket money Shopping Clothes Household chores Opinions Past tense verbs Future tense verbs The written task will be an essay on the topic of money this will be prepared in lessons, but students will have to write the essay from memory using only 40 key words (of their choice). Revision should include learning key phrases from their prepared essay at home. Speaking and listening assessments will be done in lesson time and will be based on the same topics.

Exempt Subjects No Revision Required Art Students will use their gained knowledge and skills to do a one hour exam in lesson. PE
