WATERWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL 70 Punggol Drive, Singapore 828802 Tel: 6636 6880 Fax: 6315 3451 Email: waterway_ps@moe.edu.sg Website: www.waterwaypri.moe.edu.sg 24 May 2016 Dear P1 Parents/Guardians, Parent-Teacher Conference & E-Learning Day (Friday, 27 May 2016) Please refer to our letter to you dated 27 April 2016. I hope that you have already made an appointment to meet your child s/ward s Form Teacher. As mentioned in that letter, your child/ward need not attend school on that day. Instead, your child/ward will be having an E-Learning Day and will work on online assignments at home. He/she will complete the assignments given through the Ask N Learn Student Portal at https://lms.asknlearn.com/waterwaypri. We will be training your child/ward in Week 10 to log on to the Ask N Learn portal to retrieve and complete the online assignments for the E-Learning Day. Since it is the first time your child/ward is using the portal, we will allow more time for him/her to complete the assignments. These assignments will be uploaded on Thursday, 26 May 2016 at 7 p.m. Your child must complete them by Friday, 3 June 2016, 11.59 p.m. We seek your help to ensure that your child/ward completes his/her work by the deadline. Road Safety Your child s/ward s safety is of paramount importance to us. We have been constantly reminding our pupils to use pedestrian crossings. Young children learn best through modelling and we strongly encourage you to collaborate with us by being a good role model for your child/ward. I hope to seek your cooperation not to jaywalk but to use the pedestrian crossings. Spending Pocket Money Wisely We have noticed that some pupils have been spending their money unwisely at the bookstore during their recesses. As needs vary with different children, we understand that there is a feeling of novelty for the children being able to buy their own things. We thought this would be a good opportunity for us to instill financial literacy and values in our pupils. On our part, we will educate the pupils about the differences between needs and wants and will encourage them to buy things only when there is a need to. We hope that you can help us to reinforce the good value of being prudent. 1
