National Genius Search Examination National Genius Awards 2016 NGSE APPLICATION PROCEDURE for Schools to Enroll Students National Genius Search Examination National Genius Search Examination - 2016 (NGSE) is a scientifically devised assessment tool to locate genius among children. It is an innovative approach for accelerated learning, developed after 12 years of rigorous research and adaptability tests. The NGSE leads to the prestigious National Genius Awards. The NGSE focuses on assessment for learning. It uses 'Own the Ownership of Learning Concept' (OOL Concept) to develop questions. These Questions brings in the required interest among students to take up the ownership of learning. This approach ensures maximum learning in optimal time with deeper understanding and conceptual clarity. The multi tasked Enhanced MCQs (EMCQs) of NGSE improves rapid decision making skills in daily life. The NGSE offers two scores for regular test takers - National Percentile Score (NPS) for current year and National Benchmark Score (NBS), a derived cumulative score for three or more years. The National Genius Search Examination 2016 (NGSE) is offered to students in India and schools following Indian curriculum It is available for class 4 to 12. NGSE - 2016 will be held in two phases: Phase - 1: NGSE Mains - 2016 will be held on Tuesday, 29 th September 2015 and on Saturday, 5 th December 2015. Schools can choose a date as per their convenience. Phase 2: NGSE Advanced - 2016, will be held at selected centers across India and abroad on Sunday, 28 th February 2016 for those who have cleared the NGSE Mains (Phase - 1 test). Syllabus of NGSE 2016 For Class IV X: The NGSE for Class 4 to 10 are drawn from Mathematics and Science of the respective class. The NGSE also includes a few questions on General Knowledge related to scientific aspects. For Class XI & XII : Students in Class XI & XII can choose any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Economics, Business Studies and Accountancy. Download Syllabus & Previous Papers The Syllabus of NGSE for each class or its equivalent grades can be downloaded from the downloads section of the website: www.ngsfindia.org/downloads.php. NGSE questions are mainly based on daily life experiences. Success depends on answering them by grasping the underlying concepts. The questions do not follow a fixed structure or pattern. Students are advised to comprehend instructions for each question before they attempt to answer them. Phase I: NGSE Mains 2016 NGSE Mains is a single test comprises of multiple choice questions to be answered in 90 minutes. The NGSE comprises of questions with one or more right options, 1

a series of right combinations and matching etc. Mathematics and Science are the major components of NGSE up to class X. There will be a few application oriented General Knowledge questions too. See detailed syllabus under downloads section of the website for more details. Marking the answers for NGSE Mains: Students will be given Student Response Sheet (SRS) wherein the right answers are to be marked by darkening the circles using BLACK PEN. Please note that answers once marked cannot be changed later using eraser or white ink. Such corrections if any will be treated as wrong answers. The NGSE Mains may have negative marking. Students are advised to read the instructions given in the question booklet against EACH QUESTION, carefully. It is not necessary that the previous year s questions indicate the current year's question pattern. National Percentile Score - NPS Students who have scored 60 percentile and above in NGSE Mains shall be awarded NGSE National Percentile Score (NPS). This benchmarks student's caliber among his / her peers across India & Selection Criteria for NGSE Advanced To qualify for the NGSE Advanced Examination, a student: 1. National Quota: Should fall in the topmost 10% of all the participants those who took the NGSE Mains; based on their relative performance and cut-off marks, across India & or 2. School Quota: He/she should fall in top 5% of the participants from his/her school, (excluding those who qualified from the school under National Quota) to be eligible under the school quota provided he / she scores 70 percentile (cut off) and above at the National Level. For example, if 120 students participate for NGSE Mains (across all classes) from your school and if 20 students qualify for Phase 2 under National Quota, a minimum of 5 students (5% of 100) will be selected for NGSE Advanced Examination under the school quota. Usually, the 5% students will be selected based on the proximity to 10% (national merit) cut off. Phase II: NGSE Advanced The NGSE Advanced is a written examination with 10 or less than 10 descriptive questions to be answered in 90 minutes. Important: The instructions for the NGSE Advanced may vary from class to class as it has no fixed pattern for questions. Students are advised to read and follow the instructions given in the question booklets carefully before answering the questions. The venue of the NGSE Advanced and the evaluation method will be decided by the NGSF Evaluation Council and the decision shall be final. All the 100 percentile scorers of NGSE Advanced will be conferred with the prestigious NGSF National Genius Award. The NGSE National Percentiles Score (NPS) benchmarks the student's caliber among his / her peers across India & National Benchmark Score - NBS National Benchmark Score (NBS) is the derived cumulative year wise Benchmark Score from the NGSE Mains. A higher NBS depends on student s consistent participation for NGSE every year and better performance. NBS indicates student s performance throughout his/ her academic life. It can be used as tool for admissions and employment beyond undergraduate and postgraduate course. NGSF may announce Cumulative Awards (CA) depends on NBS for 3 years, 5 years, 7 years etc. from time to time. NBS will be introduced from NGSE 2014 onwards.
