Progress 8 Curriculum Mapping and Planning for 2015-2016 (updated on 16 th March 2015) English (1) Maths (2) EBacc (3-5) Open Group (6-8) 1) If pupils sit both English Language and English Literature, the higher grade is double weighted. 2) The lower grade will still count in the open group. 3) The combined English Language & Literature qualification will be available for the last time in 2016. Any combination of EBacc subjects can be used to fill these slots e.g. biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, French, German, history, geography, Spanish. ******There are no stipulations about the types of EBacc subjects which can count in the three EBacc slots. Any combination of EBacc subjects can be used to fill these slots Double Science will count as 2 slots. Core Science GCSE alone will count as 1 slot. Separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science each count as 1 slot. ****The DfE document notes that: All these qualifications can count in the EBacc slots in this measure. If more than three slots would be taken up, a fourth slot in the open group may be used. Any student who sits any three of the four separate sciences and achieves at least a C in two of them will meet the science requirement of the EBacc.

Only qualifications that count towards the EBacc can be included in the Progress 8 slots reserved for English, Mathematics and the three EBacc slots Any GCSE can count, or any of the high value approved vocational and academic qualifications. Main Options - pupils chose 2 EBacc subjects from Triple Science, Spanish, French, History, Geography and Computer Science. - pupils chose 2 subjects from the open slot subjects (which incorporate the EBacc subjects also). 2. Pathways Options (Disapplied from MFL) -pupils chose either History and/or Geography (1-2 x EBacc) based on individual interviews and internal progress data -pupils then chose 2-3 other subjects from a limited range of subjects which include BTEC courses Additional notes: From 2016 there will be no GCSE Single Award in Combined Science.
