Call to Order President Nancy Hahn, President, called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. II. Prayer Dixie Bean opened the meeting with prayer. III. Pledge of Allegiance Jerry Yates led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. IV. Introductions Introductions were made around the room. V. Approval of Agenda A motion was made by Douglas Hines, seconded by Melvin Shook, to approve the agenda with updated personnel actions.

Page 2 VI. Presentation Hardy County Public Library Mike Crites Mr. Crites provided the Board with an update of the services the library provides to the community and the students of Hardy County. Mr. Crites asked the Board to reconsider adding the library as a line item in the budget. He would like the Board to reconsider the last amount of $16,650.00. VII. Public Comments Donna Bodkins, Moorefield Middle School Assistant Principal, thanked the Board for purchasing the iready program and providing learning team meetings for the schools. Ms. Bodkins feels this has helped students to improve in both reading and math scores. Ms. Bodkins provided the Board with testing data to show student improvement. VIII. Consent Items A. Approval of Fiscal Year 2018 Financial Statement On the motion of Douglas Hines, seconded by Dixie Bean, the Board approved the acceptance of the fiscal year ending 2018 financial statement.

Approval to Remove IDK-B Distinguished Performance Award Policy from the Policy Book On the motion of Douglas Hines, seconded by Melvin Shook, the Board approved to remove IDK-B Distinguished Performance Award Policy from the Policy Book. D. Approval of Request for Leave of Educational Value On the motion of Jerry Yates, seconded by Douglas Hines, the Board approved student Z. M. for Leave of Educational Value. E. Technology Update Ms. Sheena Van Meter, Superintendent, provided the Board with an update and a handout on the technology devices in each school. Ms. Van Meter asked the Board to review the handout and she will have it put on the next meeting for discussion. F. In County/Out of County Transfers On the motion of Dixie Bean, seconded by Douglas Hines, the Board approved to uphold the Superintendent and Principal s recommendation as presented. Page 4 XI. Board Members/Superintendent Discussion No Action May Be Taken Mr. Melvin Shook asked if there were still issues with the air conditioning at East Hardy Early Middle School. Mr. Steve Williams said they were still having issues and they are working to have them corrected while under warranty. Condensation has been an issue and track reconfiguration is being done to correct the problem. Ms. Nancy Hahn asked if the greenhouse at East Hardy Early Middle School was being brought back online with the propane. Mr. Steve Williams said yes they are working on getting the greenhouse back up and running. Ms. Sheena Van Meter asked the Board to consider purchasing two new drivers education cars and bring the existing cars to the office for use to assist with travel. After all the information is collected it will be put on the agenda. XII. Mission Statements/Accomplishments The Board wished good luck to the volleyball teams, middle and high school golf teams, bands, football teams and cheerleaders in the county. The Board commended the Moorefield High School Debate Team on the video on attendance. The Board thanked the long term substitutes that have filled the vacancies in the county and for them doing a great job.
