CURRICULUM The online MPH curriculum combines a bedrock foundation in the core principles of public health with the option to choose one of three distinct concentrations. Our concentrations reflect the most vital areas of public health, and they satisfy the varied callings and personal interests of our students. Unlike other programs, these concentrations aren t light forays into each discipline. In fact, they make up exactly half of the coursework throughout the 42-credit program. APPLIED EPIDEMIOLOGY HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION HEALTH PROMOTION The epidemiology curriculum provides systematic training in measuring and studying the distribution, characteristics and causes of disease across demographics. Epidemiology is a fundamental science of public health and is essential in the prevention of rare and chronic diseases, disability and premature death. This concentration offers a combination of public health and health care administration classes that can provide you with a multifaceted understanding of the administrative and business aspects of health care. Use the skills learned in the HSA curriculum to pursue leadership roles in both governmental and non-governmental settings. The health promotion curriculum examines the sociocultural factors that influence health and health behavior. The concentration operates under the philosophy that education, communication and effective implementation of sound health policies and initiatives can improve the quality of life around you. Learn to plan education strategies and evaluate their effectiveness. This program can help you develop the skills to promote healthier lifestyles in culturally diverse populations around the world. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The following materials are required for admission to the online MPH program: Bachelor s degree with 3.0 GPA One course in college-level introductory, human or general biology One course in college algebra, precalculus, or calculus Three letters of recommendation Resume or CV Statement of purpose and objectives Mission and values statement Health Services Administration - Students applying to the Health Service Administration concentration must have at least 3 year of paid/volunteer public health or health-related experience GRE or MCAT scores The GRE/MCAT requirement will be waived for all applicants who are: Applying to the Health Services Administration concentration Applying to the Health Promotion concentration with 5+ years of paid public health work experience Applying to any concentration with a doctoral degree from a U.S. institution Applying as an international medical graduate who is ECFMG certified GRE or MCAT scores required for all other applicants.
