PVASC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD SELECTION PROCESS 1) The recipients of the four $500.00 scholarships 2 male & 2 female will be decided using the following analogy and formula: **It is the desire of the Pleasant Valley All Sports Club that the recipients, in their senior year, who are awarded the scholarships have or are currently actively participating and completing a minimum of one full season in a Pleasant Valley School District recognized varsity sport. This philosophy coincides with our club philosophy that we are an established organization who actively supports our athletes. **It is also the desire of the body of the Pleasant Valley All Sports Club that emphasis be placed on the senior athlete. To further define this means that with the point system/formula, varsity level athletic accomplishments throughout grades 9 12 will be given the strongest recognition. 6 points will be awarded to a 4-year letter recipient in each sport 4 points will be awarded to a 3-year letter recipient in each sport 3 points will be awarded to a 2-year letter recipient in each sport 2 points will be awarded to a 1-year letter recipient in each sport SPRING SPORTS: Within the application will be an area for the student to indicate that they participate in a spring sport. The names of the athletes who signify they play a spring sport their senior year will be confirmed with the Athletic Office for verification of awarded letter(s). 1 point will be awarded for varsity leadership position(s) held; i.e., captain, co-captain for each year in each sport. **If necessary, the following can be used as tie-breakers provided that BOTH athletes who are tied have the opportunity to be considered/selected to the following: 1 point will be awarded for league/conference championships (individual or team)..5 point will be awarded for district, region, & state participation per sport per year. 1 point will be awarded for district, region, & state championships per sport per year. **The second phase of the point system/formula will be academic accomplishments to include all credits earned through grade 12. The Minimum Overall GPA requirement for consideration is an 82.0. The following point system will be awarded according to the overall GPA effective at the end of the 3 rd quarter of the senior year: 4 points for students falling within 96-100+ GPA 3 points for students falling within 91-95 GPA 2 points for students falling within 86-90 GPA 1 point for students falling within 82-85 GPA
Transcripts will be reviewed with the PV Guidance Office. Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements will NOT be considered for application. **Transfer students: Should a senior athlete transfer to Pleasant Valley in their junior or senior year and apply for scholarship consideration the following criteria will be followed: The GPA will follow the Guidance Office transcript. The Athletic Accomplishments of all other applications will be reviewed and totaled. The transfer student will receive points based on the average of all other applicants up to the year they transferred to Pleasant Valley. All Accomplishments as a PV Student will follow the guidelines as set forth within the application. ****In the event of an overall tie, SAT Scores will be used as a final tie-breaker only. The higher score will receive 1 additional point.**** Must be accepted to or in the process of being accepted to a college, university or technical school. A copy of the acceptance letter from the school must accompany the application. 2) INCOMPLETE applications WILL NOT be considered; transcripts MUST accompany the application. 3) APPLICATIONS must be received in the high school guidance office by April 15th. 4) Before final selections are made, athletic information will be verified through the athletic office. ****Students providing false information of any kind will result in denial of application privileges. **** 5) The names of Scholarship Recipients will be forwarded to the guidance office and announced the week of graduation with a formal confirmation letter to follow. 6) Money is disbursed following the first completed college semester upon receipt of transcript. 7) It is the responsibility of the recipients/parents to contact the PVASC by February 1st. If no contact is established from the recipient by this date the scholarship will be forfeited. 8) If the number of gender applicants is not met than the specified number of scholarships will be awarded to the other qualified applicants.
