Note 2: This figure includes the intake from the Linkage Double Degree Programs. Note 3: Admission is strictly based on entrance examination performance. If the application documents are sent from outside of Japan, the envelope must arrive at Rikkyo University by the application deadline or earlier. (2) Application fee must be paid by the stated application submission deadline. For details, please refer to page 5 of this guide. Note 2: Initial screenings will be conducted by reviewing submitted application materials. The registration numbers of all successful applicants will be posted at the MPMA website Note 3: Applicants residing outside of Japan will be invited to participate in eit her an interview by telephone or video conference at a time and method designated by the Graduate School of Rikkyo University. Details and schedules will be sent to successful applicants along with their initial screening results. Note 4: Registration numbers of all successful applicants will be posted on the MPMA website at 11:00 a.m. on February 26 (Monday) for the First Intake, May 18 (Friday) for the Second Intake, and June 15 (Friday) for the Third Intake. 4 Applicant Eligibility Applicants must satisfy at least one of the following requirements: 1. Have graduated or be due to graduate from an officially recognized Japanese university by September 19, 2018. 2. Have been awarded or due to be awarded a Bachelor Degree by a qualified educational institution in Japan by September 19, 2018. 3. Have successfully completed or be due to complete 16 years of formal education overseas by September 19, 2018. 4. Have successfully completed or be due to complete 16 years of formal education overseas through distance education in Japan by September 19, 2018. 5. Have completed or be due to complete in Japan a curriculum specified as equivalent to overseas university by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology by September 19, 2018. 6. Have graduated or be due to graduate from a university or educational institution overseas which has been recognized by the overseas government or accreditation institution and have been awarded or be due to be awarded a bachelor s degree or equivalent by completing a curriculum, including distance education in Japan, of which the length of completion is three years or more. 7. Have completed specialized curriculum at a vocational school, of which the length of completion is four years or more, recognized by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology after the date specified by the Minister, or be due to complete such by September 19, 2018. 8. Have graduated from an educational institution under the Old Education System in Japan. 9. Have graduated or be due to graduate from an educational institution such as the National Defense Academy, Japan Coast Guard Academy, and Meteorological College established in affiliation with Japanese government agencies by September 19, 2018. 10. Be recognized, by Rikkyo University Graduate School of Business, to have attained academic competency that is equal to or surpasses the level of a university graduate and will be twenty-two years of age or older by September 19, 2018. Notes on applicant eligibility (1) Please note that if those applying as being "due to" fulfill 1, 2, 3,4, 5, 6, 7 or 9 above fail to complete the requirements at the time of enrollment, they will not be granted admission even if they pass the entrance examination. (2) Those who plan to apply on the basis of requirement 10 above must undergo a separate review to verify their eligibility prior to application. For details on the review procedures, please contact the MPMA Course Admissions Officer, College Administration Office, Section 4, College of Business (tel: +81-3-3985-4316) at least one month before the application deadline. (3) For those non-native English speakers, TOEFL ibt Test, IELTS or TOEIC Test is required as part of the documentation for the initial screening. 5 Application Fee 1. Application Fee Application fee of 35,000 Japanese Yen (JPY) from within Japan or 37,500 YEN (JPY) from outside of Japan and the bank s handling charge must be paid according to the procedures below. (1) From within Japan Please make a wire (express) bank transfer of 35,000 JPY using the enclosed Bank Transfer slip (consisting of Forms A, B and C) between January 9-January 26 for the First Intake, between April 2 and April 20 for the Second Intake, and between April 21 and May 18 for the Third Intake. Please note that payment by ATM, Post Office or Japan Post Bank will not be accepted. Be sure to receive Forms A and B from the bank. Forms A and B must be stamped by the bank. Applicants may keep the Form B (receipt). Applicant must send the Form A to Rikkyo along with other application documents. (2) Outside of Japan Send a remittance check of 37,500 JPY (including the bank s handling charge of 2,500 JPY) along with other application documents between January 9-January 26 for the First Intake, between April 2 and April 20 for the Second Intake, and between April 21 and May 18 for the Third Intake. Any handling fees charged by the overseas bank will have to be borne by the applicants. Payment by cash or postal order is not accepted. Tokyo 6 Application Documents Applicants are required to submit the following application documents: 1. MPMA Application Form (downloadable at: http://www2.rikkyo.ac.jp/web/mpma/admissions.html) 2. Research Plan (form is included in the application form) 3. Two recommendation letters (form is included in the application form) 4. Certificate of graduation in English from the university graduated or expected to graduate (original) 5. Transcript in English from the university graduated or expected to graduate (original) 6. Two passport-type photos (4cm x 3cm) with applicant s name on the back or attach the image to the application form 7. TOEFL ibt Test, IELTS or TOEIC Test score if non-native English speakers (original score report) 8. (1) Bank Payment slip( Form A) for application fee if residing in Japan (2) A remittance check for application fee if residing outside of Japan ---- 9. (If applicable) Certificate of Qualification If you are applying under the "equivalent qualification" described in item (4) of the Notes on applicant eligibility, submit documents that provide proof of equivalent qualifications. Shown below is how to prepare the application documents. 1 MPMA Application Form Please input the necessary information in accordance with instructions. For the Academic History, it is important that you also provide the exact degree title. (Example: B.A. in Economics) 2 Research plan Approximately 1,000 words in length word processed on doublespaced on A4 size paper. Use Times New Roman, font size 12. Given the limited amount of time, it is very important for the applicant to have a clear plan for the master s thesis. Describe the research plan as carefully as possible. Be sure to include the subject, motivation, and goal. Form is included in the application form. 3 Recommendation Two recommendation letters are necessary. Recommendation letters letters must be placed in a sealed envelope and must be signed across the flap by the recommender. They must be sent to Rikkyo with other application documents. 4 Certificate of graduation (or certificate of expected graduation for Must be issued by the university from which the applicant graduated. Transcripts Must be issued by the university from which the applicant graduated or expected to graduate. Not required for those who have graduated (or are due to graduate) from Rikkyo University. 6 Two photographs Two recent (up to 3 months old) black and white or color photographs of the applicant (size 4cm x 3cm). The photograph must show the face of the applicant clearly, with the applicant facing forward, with no hat and against a plain background. Either send the photo with your name in the back or upload the image to the application form in the margin. 7 TOEFL ibt Test, IELTS or TOEIC Test Scores If your first language is not English or, if your undergraduate degree was not from a program taught entirely in English, you are required to submit language test scores to prove your proficiency in the English language TOEFL ibt The scores must be from a test taken on May 19, 2016 or later. Input the date when you took the exam in the space "exam date" (TOEFL) on the Online Application System. The official score must be reported directly to Rikkyo University from the Educational Testing Service before the application documents submission deadline. The Educational School Code (ETS code) for Rikkyo University is "0751." TOEIC The scores must be from a test taken on May 19, 2016 or later. Input the date when you took the exam in the space "exam date" (TOEIC) on the Online Application System. Contact the Institute for International Business Communication and ask for the "direct delivery system" so that a copy of the Official Score Report will be delivered directly to Rikkyo University before the application documents submission deadline. Applicants scheduled to graduate from Rikkyo University may submit the results of TOEIC IP tests taken at the University between January 2016 and December 2017. Input the date when you took the exam in the space "exam date" (TOEIC administered at Rikkyo) on the Online Application System. If you are residing in Japan, please send a Bank Payment slip (A). If you are residing outside of Japan, please send a remittance check. For details, please see 5 Application Fee. Notes on the application documents (1) Those who are applying based on requirement 2 under applicant eligibility must submit a "Graduation certificate (or certi ficate of expected graduation for those graduating by September 2018)," item 2 under application documents, in accordance with the requirements listed below. 1 Those who hold a bachelor s degree: Bachelor s degree certificate 2 Those who will receive a bachelor s degree: certificate of expected graduation a) Those that are enrolled in a major course at a junior college or at a technic al college accredited by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation: A certificate issued by the school where the applicant is enrolled, declaring that the app licant is due to graduate and a degree application certificate signed by the head of the school. b) Those other than the above: A "degree application certificate" issued by the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation. (2) All documents submitted must be originals. Contact the Admissions Office in cases where it is not possible to submit original documents. (3) Unless specified otherwise by the Admissions Office, all documents and certificates submitted must be written in either Eng lish or MPMA Application Guidelines 2018 Page - 7 - of 12

Japanese. (4) If the name printed on the certificate is different from the applicant s present name, please attach a document for official proof of name change (family register copy, etc.). The submitted document will only be used to confirm that the applicant is the same person. Once admitted, students are allowed to use "maiden/former names" or "nicknames" by filing out an application. Please refer to the Enrollment Procedure Guidelines which will be sent to successful applicants. (5) Rikkyo University may request the additional document to confirm your name on the submitted documents. 8 Mailing Address and Examination Admission Card Apply according to the following procedure by the stated application deadline. Send the application form, all the application documents and pay application fee by the stated application deadline. If the application documents are sent from outside of Japan, the envelope must arrive at Rikkyo University by the designated application submission deadline or earlier. Use a plain envelope (size No. 2 or 240mm 332mm) and send them by registered express mail or similar reliable method. Please be sure to write application documents included in red color on the envelope. Applicant s Registration Number The Admission Examination Card bearing the applicant s registration number for admissions examination will be issued to all applicants after the application document s submission deadline. The applicant s registration number is necessary in order to sit for the interview examination, confirmation of final results, and enrollment procedures. Print out your card and retain it. Notes for application submission (1) Application documents received by Rikkyo University will not be returned for any reason. (2) There is no need to submit a copy of health examination report as all incoming students will take health examination at the time of enrollment. (3) If the applicant is physically disabled, ill or suffering from injuries and requires special consideration for the examin ation, please contact the MPMA Course Officer at the College Administration Office, Section 4, College of Business ( TEL:+81-3-3985-4316, Email: mpma@rikkyo.ac.jp) in advance, and submit an "Application for Special Examination Arrangements." 9 Entrance Examination The entrance examination consists of two parts: the initial document screening (review of submitted application documents) and the interview examination. For those applicants who have successfully passed the document screening, their registration numbers will be posted on February 2 for the First Intake, April 27 for the Second Intake, and May 25 for the Third Intake at the MPMA website below. Interviews are scheduled for: Intake Interview Exam Period Exam Venue First Intake Saturday, February 17, 2018 (1) Ikebukuro Campus for those residing in Japan Second Intake Monday, May 7, 2018 Third Intake Monday, June 4, 2018 (2) Skype, video conference or telephone interview for those residing outside of Japan at the time of interview examination Please report to the exam venue (waiting room) at least 15 minutes before the exam time. Those who are late will not, in principle, be allowed to take the exam. Applicants residing outside of Japan may take this examination outside of Japan at a time and method (telephone or video conference) designated by the Graduate School of Business, Rikkyo University. Applicants successfully passing the initial document screening will be notified of the timing and procedure for the interview examination. 10 Announcement of Final Results The final results will be announced at 11:00 am on February 26 (Monday) for the First Intake, May 18 (Friday) for the Second Intake, and June 15 (Friday) for the Third Intake. The successful applicants registration numbers will be posted at the MPMA website below. 11 Enrollment Procedures The Enrollment Procedures consist of the following two steps. Step 1: Payment of academic fees and other payments Rikkyo must be able to confirm the payment on or before Wednesday, March 14, 2018 for the First Intake. Rikkyo must be able to confirm the payment on or before Friday, July 13, 2018 for the Second and the Third Intakes. Step 2: Enrollment procedures documents Enrollment procedures documents must be submitted to Rikkyo by the designated deadline. Details as well as the deadline will be announced to those final successful applicants. Please note that the enrollment documents that are submitted will not be returned for any reason. First Intake As Rikkyo must be able to confirm the payment of the first installment by March 14, 2018, applicants should be ready to make a payment arrangement well before the deadline. Details for academic fees and other payments will be announced in the Enrollment Procedure Guidelines which will be sent to successful applicants. (1) Tuition includes a semester enrollment fee (60,000 Japanese Yen (JPY) per semester; 120,000 Japanese Yen (JPY) per year in total). (2) Students may apply for tuition reduction under the tuition reduction system if they are (foreign) international students with College Student immigration resident status without Japanese government scholarships or other equivalent support. The reduction rate for academic year 2018 is 30%. The tuition reduction fee system and the rate are set and adjusted each year. Please note that the system does not apply to the students who will sta y longer than their standard course term or to those who will be on leave from their studies. 12 Withdrawal & Other Procedures Those who need to withdraw after completing the enrollment procedures to Rikkyo University may file for either Case A or Case B withdrawal as shown below. The procedures for the refund for both cases are explained below. More detailed procedures are incl uded in the "Enrollment Procedure Guidelines" that will be sent to all successful applicants. Case A: The student wishes to withdraw due to circumstances beyond his/her control after completing the enrollment procedures. By filing for a withdrawal according to the procedures shown below he/she will receive a refund of remitted academic fees and other payments. (The refund will be made by toward the end of October via bank transfer). Deadline for refund application: September 19, 2018 Required documents: 1) Form for withdrawal from enrollment (a form designated by Rikkyo University, available a t the Admissions Office.) 2) Receipt for the payment of enrollment procedure fees (copies accepted) Case B: After completing the enrollment procedures, the expected graduation or completion is cancelled, making the applicant ineligible for admission. By filing for a withdrawal according to the procedures shown below, the applicant will receive a refund of "remitted academic fees and other payment." (The refund will be made by early November via bank transfer.) Deadline for refund application: September 29, 2018 Required documents: 1) Form for withdrawal from enrollment (a form designated by Rikkyo University, available at the Admissions Office) 2) Receipt for the payment of enrollment procedure fees (copies accepted) 3) Certificate confirming that the applicant's graduation is no longer possible. Incoming student health examinations All new students are required by Japanese law to undergo a health examination. The examination schedule will be sent to applicants who complete the enrollment procedures. The examination is free of charge. Should any serious illness be identified by the health examination, and should such serious illness be determined to constitute a hindrance to normal study, the student may be placed on leave of absence.
