I have learned so many new skills this year and built so many beautiful friendships that have grown me personally and professionally. I wish to thank each of you for your support, guidance, time, and energies that have made our 2016 2017 year a success. A special thank you to our EWI Wichita Board of Directors for their vision and collaboration in implementing our programs and initiatives this year you have been amazing! I am excited and look forward to Tami Barker s continued guidance as she strengthens and grows our chapter. Tami s passion and dedication is evident and we are blessed to have her at the helm. Please make sure to attend our Tuesday, September 12 th meeting Installation of Officers and Annual Meeting at the Rolling Hills Country Club as we show our support for our incoming board. Hopefully you were able to attend our Executive Night last month at the Wichita Country Club. We had great attendance, wonderful networking with our executives and the opportunity to meet our ASIST Scholarship recipient. Our theme for this year has been the Power of Connections. I trust each of you have had an opportunity to connect better with our community, your career and each other. Life is truly about building relationships that is the catalyst for growth in our lives, careers, and our community. Jan Baggett Programs Committee Updates If you were unable to attend the August 16 Executive s Night at Wichita Country Club, you missed a great evening. We learned a lot about J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc. and their rich history in Wichita. They are celebrating an impressive 115 years in business. A real treat was getting to hear John Rupp, President of Weigand, auction off a big screen TV a man of many talents. Dawn Truman reviewed her year as President. It s easy to forget all of the things we have accomplished as an organization in one year. Our representatives were introduced to the Blueprint for Regional Economic Growth, e2e Incubator, were able to tour WSU s Experiential Engineering Building on the Innovation Campus and learned more about Diversity and Inclusion. In October we held a Reading Rally for the 3 rd graders at Colvin Elementary with the students hearing from the illustrator of Mr. President Goes to School. Each student received an autographed copy of the book, a t shirt, school supplies, a dental pack and enjoyed pizza and cookies. In November we had fun making soap for the Wichita Children s Home. In December we delivered over 100 boxes of food to Colvin Elementary for the students to have over the holiday break. Because of our holiday box initiative, several folks in one of our firms stepped up and provided some other crucial needs that Colvin had, including coats, uniforms and a washer and dryer. We were also able to honor two women with scholarships. Our ASIST winner was also awarded the 2017 EWI Corporate Scholarship. Wow, what a year! Thank you Dawn Truman for your leadership! I hope you will plan to attendonline: the September ewiconnect.org 12 meeting email: at ewi@ewiconnect.com the Rolling Hills Country Club. We will be installing the Chapter Officers and Directors. Come support our new President, Tami Barker and the team leading the chapter for the next year. 4 Page EWI C
