GCSE Qualifications Many are 100% examination. Some still have controlled assessment, now referred to as Non-Exam Assessments (NEA). NEAs are carried out under varying levels of control and throughout the courses. Graded 9-1 9-4 Level 2 pass 3-1 Level 1 pass

Myths & Rumours You do need triple science for A Level science; Non-GCSEs are not worth the same; Practical subjects are easy; You decide PE GCSE or Sport BTEC Courses can be changed in Year 10;
Options Considerations Maintain a broad and balanced curriculum Subjects from at least 3 faculties Consider future pathways Follow the rules You can t select both Design Technology and Engineering. Consider the subject not the teacher!
Important things to remember Students need to be in education or employment with training until 18 Choose subjects which will keep doors open Choose subjects which will develop a range of skills for the future Choose subjects which they enjoy Follow the guidelines Support and guide them - it is their choice, but it needs to be an informed one. Put them in priority order.
