New Lexington, Ohio April 21, 2014 The New Lexington City Board of Education held its April 2014 Regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Junction City Elementary School Media Center, 307 Poplar Street. Members present: John McGaughey, Tina Fondale, Mary Dodd, and Mike Davisson. All members having received a type written copy of the minutes from the March 24, 2014 regular, it was moved by Fondale and seconded by Dodd that the Treasurer dispense with the reading of the minutes, and further that said minutes be approved. THE VOTE: Fondale, yes; Dodd, yes; Davisson, yes; McGaughey, yes. Treasurer s Recommendations It was moved by Davisson and seconded by Fondale to approve the Treasurer Recommendations as follows: A. Approve the March 31, 2014 Financial Report as presented. B. Approve the following February 2014 Appropriation Increases/(Decreases): Fund Fund No. Amount 1/2 Mill Maintenance Fund 034 $46,000.00 TIF ARRA Fund FY 14 590-9514 25,793.97 THE VOTE: Davisson, yes; Fondale, yes; Dodd, yes; McGaughey, yes. Superintendent s Report Annette Losco, Principal at New Lexington Middle School, along with Pam Melragon and members of her staff, presented work that has been completed through the FAMS grant. The FAMS grant is a two year grant that emphasized observing students as they are learning and providing feedback and identify students as they are struggling. The grant provided many opportunities of professional development to assist the teachers. The teachers had to submit six e-portfolios that will be available to the rest of the state on ODE's website. Mrs. Sherburne requested permission to again provide meat and cheese trays to the staffulty for Teacher Appreciation Week on May 9, 2014. The Board members agreed to this request. 380

It was moved by Fondale and seconded by Davisson, to adjourn to Executive Session at 7:32 p.m. under provisions of O.R.C. 121.22(G)(1) to discuss employment of personnel. B. Approve the Certified/Licensed Personnel resignations of Emily Robbins, High School Technology Teacher, effective at the end of the 2013-14 school year and Robert Dodd, High School Principal, effective June 30, 2014. Board Report A. Legislative Update Mary Dodd a. The OSBA Board Member only conference is scheduled for May 2 nd. Mrs. Dodd will be attending the conference. B. Student Achievement Mike Davisson a. Justin Gilliland is a senior this year and has been involved in FFA for 4 years. He is a finalist in this year Ohio FFA convention. This is his 3 rd year being up for the award and last year he placed third at the state convention. Items for Discussion/Research Prior to Action There are possible issues with the scoreboards at the baseball and softball fields and the bleachers at the baseball field. Mrs. Sherburne will check into the functioning of 383

the scoreboards and informed the board that she believed the bleachers were already repaired. Mr. McGaughey shared information with the Board related to the Community Foundation for Perry County. Mrs. Sherburne will contact the representative from the foundation to give a presentation at a future board meeting. It was moved by Dodd and seconded by Davisson to adjourn the meeting.
