ANNUAL PROGRAM High Performance + Studies 2014-2015 1. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Academia Sánchez-Casal is a high performance training facility that combines tennis and education for the students, with the objective of shaping successful young people in diverse aspects of their lives. The Academia Sánchez-Casal has a Unique Training System established by coaches with a worldwide reputation. Sánchez-Casal has developed elite players such as Kuznetsova, Murray, Dimitrov, Hantuchova, Ivanovic, Mónaco, Bovina, among others. The High Performance + Studies Annual Program offers a complete educational journey for the students who want to combine intensive tennis training with academic studies. This program includes a daily high performance tennis training based in the Sánchez-Casal system, which includes technical exercises, court mobility, tactical strategy and competition, with a specific physical training program as well as the ES International which is situated inside the Sánchez-Casal facilities. In addition, this program also includes mental training, video analysis, and a personalized competition calendar. The annual program begins on September and runs until June. It includes 15 hours of tennis training and 5 hours of physical training per week, 1.5 hours of mental training per month and 1 video analysis per semester. The various areas of the program are designed and coordinated so that students can benefit the most from all of them. This means that tennis, physical training, mental training and the school together to obtain the maximum benefit for the students, so that the student can succeed in both the academic studies as well as the tennis training, avoiding injuries and overtraining, thus ensuring the best performance possible. 2. CALENDAR The High Performance Program + Studies starts on September 1 st 2014 and runs until June 21 st of 2015. The trainings are from Monday to Friday, with Christmas holidays and some other national holidays in accordance with the official Spanish calendar. September 1 st : Orientation Day (parents and students) Christmas holidays: from December 21st 2014 to January 7th of 2015. Easter Holidays: from April 3rd to April 6th of 2015 both days included. 5. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT METHODS In order to enroll in the annual program, is necessary to demonstrate a certain tennis level that will be evaluated by the Academia Sánchez-Casal technical team. Therefore, please contact the Admissions Department. The registration for the program will be formalized by: Filling out completely and sending the registration form (that will be provided by the Admissions Department once availability is confirmed) signed by the student as well as the father, mother or legal guardian if student is under 18 years old. Payment of 153, 81 for the registration fee for new students. Payment of a deposit amount equal to 10% of the total cost of the program. The registration to the program will be finalized when the first payment is made, by one of the following: OPTION A: 10% deposit of the total cost of the program upon registration. 90% balance due of the total cost of the program before August 31 st of 2014. For advanced full payment of the program, there will be a 3% discount. (Option A) OPTION B: 10% deposit of the total cost of the program upon registration. 40% balance due of the total cost of the program before August 31 st 2014. 50% balance due of the total cost of the program before January 1 st 2015. Payments can be made by credit card or by bank transfers (if done by bank transfer, the bank commissions are to be paid by the sender). The registration is considered effective for the full duration of the program. Therefore, once the program has started, who want to terminate the program before the official final date, see cancellation policy. The formalization of the registration implies the acceptance of the general conditions described herein, as well as the acceptance of the Code of Internal Regulations of the Academia Sánchez-Casal. 6. PROGRAM CONTENT BY AREAS The content of the annual program is divided into the following areas: TENNIS Includes 3 hours of tennis training every day (from Monday to Friday), in which the student works in the technical and tactical aspects of the game as well as court mobility and positioning, based in the Sánchez-Casal system in order to enhance their tennis and develop a better game from all areas of the court. Each student is assigned a tutor, which is responsible for monitoring the development of the player. All of the coaches from our technical team have the RPT and USPTA certification. The training season is divided into preparation, competition and transition periods. These periods which are also monitored in the physical training, ensure the student a perfect balance between training and competition according to their age and level. PHYSICAL TRAINING Includes 1 hour of physical training every day (from Monday to Saturday), in which all the physical aspects such as resistance, strength, speed, agility, coordination and flexibility are worked on, in accordance with proper planning for the student, based on the Sánchez-Casal system which is emphasizes the movement and court positioning. Every student will have a physical trainer tutor which is responsible for monitoring the proper development of the player in their physical aspect, as well as coordinating with the tutors the player has assigned in other areas. The physical training in Sánchez-Casal places special emphasis on preventing injuries. COMPETITION CALENDAR The student will have a personalized competition calendar appropriate to their age and level. This calendar will be planned by the tennis tutor of the student as well as the Tournament Coordinator, and could include both national and international tournaments, based on the individual needs of the student. Also, this sporting calendar is coordinated with ES International, which adapts the school curriculum to the planned tournaments. MENTAL TRAINING Our team of sports physiologists offers the student a proper mental training in order to develop the mental skills of the student, by performing in class and on the court sessions, as well as providing support for the student to be able to use tools that will not only help them in tennis but also in their everyday life. The mental training is integrated into the Sánchez-Casal training system. VIDEO ANALYSIS The tutor will conduct a complete video analysis with the student every semester. The student will be recorded while performing on court exercises as well as in actual matches, and the tutor, supervised by the Lab team will perform a technical and tactical analysis of the student. Likewise, other video analysis sessions may be performed in order to help the student in a particular aspect of the game. SCHOOL STUDIES The student will attend ES International, located inside the facility of Academia Sánchez-Casal. ES International is an accredited American school which offers 3 rd through 12 th grade (ages 8 to 18 years old). The language of instruction in all classes is English, taught by native teachers. development as well as coordinating with tutors the student has assigned in other areas. The student population consists of student-athletes from over thirty countries who cumulatively speak over twenty languages. 7. COLLABORATION BETWEEN ACADEMIA SÁNCHEZ-CASAL AND ES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL The Academia Sánchez-Casal and ES International work together so that the students can combine to perfection tennis and studies. Any student who wants to terminate the tennis program from the Academia Sánchez-Casal will also have to withdraw from ES International, and vice versa, weather it is during the semester, or at the beginning of the next. 8. UNIVERSITY PLACEMENT and SAT TESTING For those students who graduate from ES International, we offer a service for obtaining athletic scholarships at American Universities, where the students will be able to pursue university studies while still playing tennis at a high level. This service includes a complete registration process to an American University, as well as the search for academic and athletic scholarships. Likewise, ES International offers the preparation for university admission tests like SAT and TOEFL. Currently, 98% of our school graduates have earned a University Degree, while the remaining 2% have pursued a professional tennis career. ES International works with a specialized service for obtaining scholarships and coordinates with them in order to find the best university in agreement with the objectives and academic qualities of the student. 9. ACCOMMODATION The students may reside inside the Academia Sánchez-Casal campus. The Academy offers two types of accommodation, a residence for younger students, and bungalows for older students. Both accommodations have supervisory staff 24 hours a day. SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE ACCOMMODATION: Lodging in a single or double room Breakfast, lunch and dinner Laundry Service Wireless Internet Access Weekly excursion to a shopping center (Every Wednesday) Game room access (which has TV s, computers, play station and other recreational games) 10. TRANSPORTATION SERVICE AIRPORT TRANSFER The Academia Sánchez-Casal will pick up all the students registered in the tennis program with accommodation that notify us with the flight information (Airline Company, flight number and time of arrival) with a minimum of 7 days prior to the arrival date. Pickups and Drop offs are only offered at the Barcelona Airport El Prat (not Girona or Reus). This service will only be offered for flights landing no later than 6pm and taking off no earlier than 9am. For any additional transportation during the year, a 48hour notice is required and will be confirmed upon availability of our drivers. UM SUPPORT SERVICE For those who have contracted a UM (Unaccompanied Minor) service with their airline, the Academy also offers a support service by having one of our staff members accompany the student at all times until he/she is picked up by the airline company and taken to the gate. In order to request this service, the Academy has to be informed that the student has a UM service booked with the airline company, as well as providing us with the flight information in advance. The name of the person who will accompany the student will be provided by the Academy a few days before the arrival or departure of the flight. DAILY TRANSPORTATION The Academia Sánchez-Casal offers a daily transportation service to and from the host families houses for those students who reside there. To the other students registered in the annual program but not residing in the host families the transportation service is available on request only and for an extra fee (see section 4 PRICES AND SERVICES INCLUDED). 11. VISA AND RESIDENCE CARD PROCESS FOR NON-EUROPEAN CITIZENS Our Student Athlete Support team will provide the invitation letters and other necessary documentation for those students who do not reside in countries within the European Union, who will need a Visa (Visa D) to live and study in Spain. This service is available once the reservation for the program has been formalized (that is that the registration form has been sent, the registration fee has been paid, as well as the corresponding deposit fee). It is the student s responsibility to contact and get an appointment in the Spanish Consulate/Embassy in your country of residence in order to obtain the visa. The Academy will also provide a template for Consent of a Minor Living and Studying in Spain that must be signed by the parent/guardian of the student and authorized by the Spanish Embassy/Consulate in your country of residence and sealed with the HAGUE Apostille. Within 30 days of the student s arrival in Spain with a Visa D, each student must obtain a student residence card. Each student will have to bring the following documents: Visa D for Studies Photocopies of both parents passports 4 standard passport photographs (white background) Authorized Consent Letter signed by the Spanish Consulate/Embassy and sealed with the HAGUE Apostille As this process requires the services of a lawyer, it has an extra charge (see section 4 PRICES AND SERVICES INCLUDED). GENERAL STANDARDS TO BE FOLLOWED BY ALL STUDENTS During their stay at the Academy, students are expected to treat all persons with respect. The Academy makes available its material and personal resources for each student to be able to develop successfully, and they are expected to display honesty and hard work in every aspect of the Academy life. 14. MEDICAL INSURANCE The registration to any program of the Academy includes Comprehensive Medical Care underwritten by Seguro Premium Mapfre, a leading insurance company in Spain. This policy covers the student against illnesses or injuries, and it has the best specialists in the world. The specific coverage information is described in the contract signed with the insurer. The Academy has on premises a physiotherapy area, with experienced staff in treating sports injuries, and works with the latest technology available for treating them as well. 15. STUDENT BANK Each student has a virtual account in the Academy, where parents or tutors may deposit money, either in cash, by bank transfer or by credit card (credit card charges have a surcharge of 3%). No other deposit method is allowed. The students may withdraw money from Monday to Friday between 11am and 4pm through the Reception Department. The Academy also has an ATM Machine on site. 16. LAUNDRY SERVICE Laundry Service is available to those students staying on campus with a length of stay of more than one week. The students can get their laundry bag after paying a 10 deposit fee which will be refunded once the laundry bag is returned at the end of the stay. The bags will be picked up and returned on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The bag with the dirty clothes will be returned cleaned, dry and folded the next pick up / drop-off day. It is recommended that the student clothes are marked with their name to prevent mix-ups. 17. INJURIES The Academia Sánchez-Casal, through the Medical Insurance Policy taken out by the student, and the in-house physiotherapy and Medical Care team, will treat players injuries through a personalized, comprehensive rehabilitation program. If the student wishes to take a temporary leave of the Academy due to injury, no refund will be provided for the time of the absence. 18. CANCELLATION POLICY If due to circumstances beyond control, the student must leave the Academy without having completed the program, the Academy will determine if it provides a refund to the student of the part of the period paid for and not consumed, in accordance with the following criteria: In no case will the portion corresponding to the 10% deposit, be returned. In regard to the amount paid for the Program, a maximum amount refundable to the student will be equal to the difference in complete calendar months between the end of the program and the date of withdrawal, minus an amount equivalent to one month, which will remain as compensation to the Academy.
