For more information, please click on http://www.uom.ac.mu/index.php/study-at-uom/prospectivestudents/assistance-to-students-scholarships This is a high-calibre, 2-year extended Masters programme in Economics offered by the University of Mauritius in close collaboration with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC website: www.aercafrica.org), a public, non-profit making organisation devoted to advanced economic research and training, based in Nairobi, Kenya. Students will spend their first year at the University of Mauritius, where they will take 3 core modules and sit for the examinations (around May 2019). On successful completion of the core modules, students will travel to Nairobi late June 2019 to take 2 elective modules over one semester at the Joint Facility for Electives (JFE), Nairobi. Finally, they will return to the University of Mauritius to prepare their MA thesis during the 4 th semester. Please note that due to limited budget, AERC will be able to fund only ten (10) year 2 students to complete the joint facility electives in Nairobi. The ten students (including foreign students) will be selected on the following criteria: They have passed all the CORE modules in year 1 at the University of Mauritius; Based on their performance in the first year here the CPA will be used as an indicator. Non sponsored students (including foreigners) will have to self-finance their travel expenses to Nairobi and accommodation costs. FEES The University reserves the right to review General Fees, Tuition Fees and other charges for any given academic year prior to the beginning of such academic year. By accepting a seat at the University, the student undertakes to pay all such fees as and when claimed. If they wish to be considered as Mature Candidates, it is compulsory that they tick the box at Section 16 of the Application Form and attach documentary evidence with regard to work experience (only those who have filled in this section and submitted the requested documents will be considered for admission as Mature Candidates). PAYMENT OF FEES Please note that the following Direct Debit facilities (Bank Standing Order) will be available for settlement of Tuition Fees only and upon request. If you avail yourself of this facility, you will be required to settle your fees as follows: 100% of General Fees and Students Welfare Fund + 50% of Tuition Fees to be paid on registration date. Balance of 50% of Tuition Fees to be paid in 3 equal and consecutive monthly instalments. Payment is to be made as from the end of the following month after registration. A Standing Order Form will be available at the Finance Director s Office during the registration exercise. The form duly filled in, should be submitted before registration. In case of revocation of the Standing Order before its termination, you will not be admitted to the examinations as per University regulations. HOW TO APPLY Applicants will NOT be required to call at the University for application procedures. Application for admission re-open online (https://apply.uom.ac.mu/application) from Tuesday 05 th June 2018 to Friday 22 nd June 2018 and all procedures and instructions indicated should be carefully followed. The University will acknowledge receipt of application online when payment is received. Applicants will thereafter be able to print their receipt online. The Application will then be locked and candidate will not be able to amend the Form.
