Pick from past or current classes and we will do our best to arrange a class for you, your family, and friends. Please register early to secure your place in class! Paper Flower Gardening: with Janice Gray Class #Paper11-2-13 November 2 Time: First Saturdays 1-3:00 p.m. / 3-10 students Cost: $15 Have you been admiring the flowers at the Arts & Cultural Center Gallery and ArtZone? This class is for you! Spend 2 delightful hours making paper flowers with the originator of the Red Gallery Gift Shop window gardens - go home with flowers and a green thumb. Materials provided. Learn the basics of acrylic painting and complete a painting in a 4 week session. This class can be taken more than once for continuing instruction. * Materials can be supplied by the instructor for use in class for $13, or if you would like to supply your own, please call or email for a list. Digital Photography 1: with Keith House Class #DP11-7-13 November 7, 14, 21, & 28 Class #DP12-9-13 December 9, 16, 23, & 30 Time: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 p.m. / 3-10 students Cost: $120 Learn basic photography concepts such as aperture, shutter speed, focal length and depth of field. We will cover the difference between traditional film photography and digital technology. Additional areas that will be discussed include transferring and manipulating digital images, color spaces, printing and a look at digital retouching. Bring your Digital camera as well as some examples of photos that didn't turn out the way you had hoped. Students are responsible for any printmaking costs or CD media used to bring photos to class. (around $20-$30) Drawing from the Heart: with Annie Brady Class #D11-3-13 November 3, 10, 17, & 24 Class #D12-1-13 December 1, 8, 15, & 22 Time: Sunday 1:00-3:00 p.m. Age: 8 to ancient / 2-10 students Cost: $60 Truly a beginning, this class starts with a discussion about kinds of pencils, papers and other materials and how they affect the finished artwork. Learn about lines and form as you do exercises with the provided workbook. Still life set ups and reference photos will be available to draw from during class, with an emphasis on the artist's story-telling role and the thinking behind the work, not just mindless copying. For beginners to experienced, this class celebrates drawing for the joy of it - loosen up, turn off your inner criticizer and draw, draw, draw. Basic paper and drawing implements will be provided, but feel free to bring your own favorites. All Torn Up: with Annie Brady Class #PCollage11-3-13 November 3 Class #PCollage12-8-3 December 8 Time: Saturday 4:00-6:00 p.m. Age: 8 to ancient / 2-12 students Cost: $40

Listen to the story and then create pictures from torn pieces of colored paper, using a technique very similar to collage. This class offers a fun way to work off stress while using a different idea process to produce images, looking at the negative spaces and working three-dimensionally. Students will have a finished piece of artwork to take home at the end of this one-day workshop. NIA : with Beth Stone Class #NIA11-6-9 November 6, 13, 20, & 27 Class #NIA12-4-13 December 4, 11, & 18 Time: Wednesday 6:30-7:45 p.m. Age: 14 and up / 1-3 students Cost $5.00 per class NIA Blends dance, martial arts, and healing arts to create a sensory based dynamic fitness and Lifestyle practice. All materials included, but please bring your own clippers or pruners if you have a favorite, and any extra plant material you would like to use. Create your own seasonal floral arrangement! Ceramic Pottery Glaze and Clay Classes Glaze Days: Mix it up! at Primary Pottery Class #C11-7-13 November 7 Class #C12-5-13 December 5 Time: Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m. Age: Teens and up Cost: $12 per 4" tile, $16 per 6" tile, $20 per 8" tile Want to explore new ceramic glaze painting techniques? Choose 1 to 3 ideas from "Lacing", "Zentangle", "Designer Liner", "Cobblestone", and "Stenciling".

Creature Feature: with Annie Brady Class #C11-23-13 November 23 & 30 Class #C12-14-13 December 14 & 21 Time: Saturday 6:00-8:00 p.m. Age: 8 to ancient / 2-10 students Cost: $60 Make Creatures from your imagination, animals, anything... and learn about working in clay without a wheel. Basic hand-building techniques no prior experience needed!! Mud and fun!! Clay Days: with Janis AtLee Class #C11-23-13 November 23 Class #C12-21-13 December 21 Time: Saturday 1-3 p.m. Age: Teens and up Cost: $25 per class Want to get your hands into clay? Always wondered about how clay sculpture is made? Sign-up for one or many open studio classes beginning in September. The first 45 minutes is instruction and then you get to play in clay. If you are a beginner, start with learning to make a slip knot, cast on, garter stitch, and bind off. Class: #F11-8-13 When: November 8 Learn to make a coffee cup coosie. Just bring a skein of light colored, medium weight yarn and your #7 - #9 knitting needles. If you are a beginner, we will start with learning to purl. Class: #F11-15-13 When: November 15 Learn to make boot toppers. Just bring a skein of light colored, medium weight yarn and your #7 - #9 knitting needles. If you are a beginner, we will start with learning to ribbing and to read a pattern. Class: #F11-22-13 When: November 22 Learn to make a cowl. Just bring a skein of light colored, medium weight yarn and your #7 - #9 knitting needles. If you are a beginner, we will start with learning to knit I the round.

There are home, hamlet, town and city scenes (- see John Hockensmith's North Elkhorn Creek and Dick Wier's Georgetown plein aire paintings as in "plain air" - outside sketches at City Hall-), and there are creeks (-see James Archambeault's photos of North Elkhorn Creek at the Scott County Court House-), forests, fields, barns, covered bridges...anything that you can say "this is Scott County" waiting for your imagination. Fall colors are at their peak outside, and wintery wet days provide the time to create while warm and cosy inside! In the JAILER s HOME 2013 Antiques & Art Walk: Thursday November 21, 5-7 p.m. Thank you Open House welcomes you to meet members, volunteers, and newcomers during a evening of celebration thanks giving for the goodness we find in each other and our community. "Tour of Historic Homes" December 8, Sunday 1-5 p.m. $10. Begin your tour at the Arts & Cultural Center where maps and directions await your visit, or choose any of the of homes of distinction in historic architecture to start your adventure back in time. This annual event hosted by members and volunteers of the Scott

County Arts Consortium is both a welcomed adventure for participants, and important fundraiser for the Scott County Arts & Cultural Center. Join us this year for the tour, and join the SCAC to provide a home for the arts. Thursday December 19, 5-7 p.m. Tie a Bow on It Open House welcomes you to find that next to last minute gift from a wide variety of affordable art work created by local and regional artists.
