We pray that your time at the school will be happy and fulfilling and that you will enjoy being part of the amazing PCS community. We also welcome Mrs Amanda Bailey and Mrs Charmaine Strydom who join us for their teaching practicums in Years 5 and 1 respectively. At the end of this term we will be farewelling Mr Neil Vorster and his family for one year. They plan to explore the beauty of God s creation in New Zealand and will return to us in 2020. We welcome Mrs Donna Calley as the Year 4 class teacher in 2019. Term Dates 2018 Term1: 23 Jan to 13 April Term 2: 30 April to 29 Jun Term 3: 23 July to 28 Sept Term 4: 15 Oct Teacher only day 16 Oct to 07 Dec Term Dates 2019 Term1: 22 Jan to 12 April Term 2: 29 April to 28 Jun Term 3: 22 July to 27 Sept Term 4: 14 Oct to 05 Dec Year 7-10 students should be actively preparing for their internal exams. These start on Wednesday, 7 November. Following a study timetable can really help students to focus and it is important to work in a quiet area, away from distractions. Please remind your child that we value and cherish each and every one of them, not for their academic results but for their unique character. Each one of them is made in the image of God. Exam time can be very stressful for young people and it is important for them to remember academic results do not define us. However we do want every child to honour God by trying their best in every subject! Yours in Christ Clare Humber Principal

3. GALA 2019 At PCS we hold a Gala every March, this is our main school fundraiser for the year. We build an amazing team that works behind the scene to make our Galas successful and wonderful community events for the whole family. There will be a meeting at PCS on Thursday, 1 November at 8:30am for all parents keen to join the team. It is a great way to meet people and support the school in this important way. If you are interested in helping, please come along to this meeting to find out more. 4. LUNCH ON LINE As you are aware, PCS has signed up to lunchonline, 2 days a week, Wednesdays and Fridays. Lunchonline is a website which currently has Pita Pit on board as a provider. As time goes on there will be other local providers. Register online at www.lunchonline.co.nz and follow 4 easy steps to get started. Once you have done this, you can order online, the cut-off is 9:00am on the day of the order and the lunch will be delivered just before lunchtime at PCS. Students will need to come to the office to collect their lunch. 5. HOUSE FOR RENT One of our Staff members is taking a year off to travel with his family and has put the family house up for rent. Please refer to the attached notice, House for Rent for more information and contact details. 6. DUATHLON RESULTS (TERM 3) Toward the end of Term 3, a number of students from Year 5-8 represented the school at the Franklin Duathlon held at the Pukekohe Raceway. A number of our students placed really well; Philippa Pollard came second in the Year 8 girls individual Sach Thomas and Lola Schmitt-O Rielly came third in the Year 8 girls team Paramvir Sanger and Cody Sheppard came third in the Year 7 boys team.

7. YEAR 7 EVIDENCE ENGLISH NOVEL STUDY As part of their English Novel Study - Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, in Term 3, the Year 7 cohort learnt the fundamentals of procedural writing and advertising through the creation of an Amazing- Crazy-Creative-Concoction! Congratulations to Heidi Pollard for her outstanding winning contribution! The Year 7 s produced some incredible, allegedly edible concoctions which they got to share and enjoy afterward. 8. PCS HALL FUNDRAISING Thanks to a donation through our Give-a-Little campaign we have a slight movement on our thermometer we are now at 26.7% of our target. We have received $14,125 to date through the Give-a-Little and Pledge campaigns and have a further $11,320 in pledges still to be received from those of you who made pledges earlier on in the year. Thank you for the donations and pledges that we have received so far - every little bit of support is greatly appreciated. Preparatory work for the project has already started, but as you can see, we have only raised just over a 1/4 of our target and we have a long way to go! The Board is continuing to look at ways we can raise the much needed finance for the Hall from the wider community. If you have any ideas on how to meet our target for the Hall, we would love to hear from you. Thank you again for your support.

9. ANZ OLYMPIC SCHOOLS The Olympic Schools programme was developed in partnership with the New Zealand Olympic Committee and is designed to inspire, motivate and reward our youth and schools and is a way for the ANZ to support Pukekohe Christian School through a points system. How it works is anyone who does a home loan ($50K +) through ANZ can allocate points to our school. Every home loan that qualifies will give the school 800 points which is the equivalent of $400 buying power. It also gives PCS the chance to secure a visit from an Olympic Ambassador.
