Children should arrive at the Sanctuary by 4:00 p.m. to get into costumes and prepare for the program at 4:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. followed by caroling and time with live animals at the nativity. Watch Facebook and/or your email for possible changes to this event due to winter weather. United Presbyterian Youth Christmas Party! All seventhtwelfth graders are invited to the UPY Christmas Party on December 16 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Upper Witherspoon. It helps the church to plan our budget when pledges are received during the month of November. Pledge cards and Time and Talent forms are available on the large table in the Gathering Place or online. Please find links to these resources in the Weekend Update and on our website. First School teachers have organized a parent s day out event for December 15 from 9:00 a.m.-noon. This fun-filled morning benefits the teachers and First School program and 3

is open to all friends and family of First School and FUPC for children ages, 18 months-10 years old. The cost is $20 for the first child; $25 for siblings. Children will play and decorate cookies! Registration forms are available through the First School Office (571-4516). Hat and Mitten Tree - During the month of December, a Christmas Tree adorned with small hat and mitten ornaments is in the Gathering Place alcove. Please take an ornament as a reminder to bring back new or gently used hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves to be donated to Fayetteville Public Schools. You may place your donations on the tree or at the base of the tree. The students are very appreciative of these items each year! Thank you for your support of this Presbyterian Women service project. Please call Katie Jackson (879-1849) for more details. New or gently-used coats for men, women, and children will be collected in the Calvin Hallway through December 16. These coats will be given to 7hills Homeless Center for individuals in need in our community. If you'd like to include another person in your gift-giving this Christmas, we have learned of a family that would benefit from any of the following: for a twelve-month-old boy: clothes (12M and larger), shoes (12M and larger), or toys; for a four-year-old girl: clothes (4T and larger), shoes (8 child), or toys (would like a baby doll and plastic food/kitchen items); or for a mom: winter coat (medium, casual, long, brown or black), sweaters (medium, brown or black), black knee boots (6½M). Please contact Jan Butin by December 11 with one specific item you d like to purchase (or with questions). We will deliver these gifts by December 20. Thank you for making Christmas merry for others. We invite you to come by the church from 3:00-4:30 p.m. on December 19 as we say thank you to Heidi Nash and Molly Murray in a special way. We ll have a punch, Christmas treats, and a program at 4:00 p.m. Molly will be leaving her work as Office Manager in order to focus on student teaching. Heidi has decided this is a good time to retire, so she also will be leaving her work as Membership Secretary and Food Events Coordinator. They both assure us that we ll continue to see them at church and that they ll be involved in various ministries of FUPC after a short break. Their final day of employment will be December 31.
