NOTICE TO CANDIDATES Dear candidate At the outset we would like to send our best wishes for your January 2019 examinations. This communication is focussing on the possibility of disruptions during examinations in January 2019. Although we hope that there will be no such disruptions we would like you to be informed of the measures that the British Council may take in such a situation in consultation with Pearson Edexcel. If there is any disruption like Hartal we will assess the situation with Pearson Edexcel on case to case basis and may deliver or postpone the examinations. We will communicate this to candidates. Candidate must evaluate the situation while traveling to an exam venue during a Hartal session if we deliver exams. Safety of our candidates, staff and security of exams materials is paramount and influences our decision making. Therefore Pearson Edexcel and British Council will keep the situation under constant review. We are also working on extra measures to put in place to ensure the safety and integrity of the exams. Where the situation is very much disruptive and our risk assessment does not permit us to deliver then in consultation with Pearson Edexcel we may cancel examinations considering the safety & security of our staff candidates and examinations. For every examination you must produce your individual Statement of Entry and the valid international passport that you used during registration at the entrance to the examination hall. If you fail to do so you will not be allowed into the examination hall. EXAMINATION REGULATIONS 1. You are required to comply in all respects with any instructions issued by the Examination Board before and during an exam. 2. You may not attempt to deceive the invigilators by giving false or misleading information. 3. You are not allowed to take to your exam desk any books notes or other materials except those authorized by the examination regulation. These are known as unauthorized materials. 4. You are not allowed to possess any unauthorized materials while the exam is in progress (whether at your desk or otherwise). 5. You are not allowed to use or attempt to use or intend to use any unauthorized materials while the exam is in progress. 6. You may not assist attempt to assist obtain or attempt to obtain assistance by improper means from any other person during your exams. 7. You are required to adhere at all times to the Instructions to Candidates which you receive with your Examination paper. 8. You are required to comply with the exam board s rules. Invigilators are obliged to report any cases of irregularity or improper conduct to the British Council. The supervisor is empowered to discontinue your exam if you are suspected of misconduct and to exclude you from the exam hall. 9. You may not engage in any other unprofessional conduct designed to assist you in your exam attempt. 10. You are not permitted to remove either your candidate-answer-booklet or your question paper from the exam hall. All exam candidate answer booklets remain the property of the examination board. 11. Once the exam has started you are not allowed to leave the exam hall permanently until the end of the session and then only when instructed by the invigilator. 12. If you attempt to gain an unfair advantage in the exam (whether by breaching an exam regulation or otherwise) you are likely to be removed from the examination board s record following disciplinary proceedings.

EXAMINATION GUIDELINES Before the Examination You are reminded to read the Notice to Candidates (instruction from Pearson Edexcel) carefully and observe all regulations governing the examination unless otherwise instructed. This notice will also be displayed near the examination hall for your reference. You are advised to synchronize your watch with the clock being used in the examination hall. You are not allowed to bring mobile phones and watches with calculators and/or chimes into the examination hall. You will not be allowed entry into the examination premises until 45 minutes before the examination start time. Please carefully check the date and venue of your examinations. All examinations scheduled for International Advance level (IAL) Morning session starts at 11:00 AM and Afternoon session starts at 3:00 PM, International GCSE Afternoon session starts at 3:00 PM and Evening session starts at 7:00 PM. Please note that you should arrive at the centre at least 45 minutes before the beginning of each examination. Please pay close attention to the Invigilator s announcement at the beginning of each examination. This will include important information relating to safety within the examination hall. Please also ensure that you know where the fire exits are. Each desk in the examination hall is numbered; please ensure that you are sitting at the correct desk by referring to the candidate number.

During the Examination Please ensure that you arrive on time for your examination(s) as you will not be given extra time if you are late. During examinations for any additional paper /assistance from the invigilators please raise your hand without making any noise. You are not permitted to leave the hall permanently until the end of the session. If you are required to leave the hall for a short period you will be escorted by an Invigilator. You may take to your desk: - Rulers pens pencils and an eraser - Geometrical instruments - Calculator which may be programmable but which may not have a printout or graphic/ word/ mass storage/display facility in any language. Before the examination begins please complete the following details on the front of your candidate answer booklet in black ballpoint pen: Your name or initial - Your candidate number - Your centre number Please ensure that you have been given the correct examination paper by comparing the front cover of your examination paper with the paper designation code on the statement of entry. British Council does not implement a dress code for its examinations. However please dress for your examination(s) in a manner which will not cause offence to your fellow candidates. Before during and after your examination(s) please do not behave in a manner which will distract your fellow candidates. Inappropriate behaviour will be reported to examination body by the invigilator. Please do not open your question paper or start writing in your answer booklet until you are instructed to do so by the invigilator. Please stop writing as soon as the invigilator ends the examination. Please do not then leave your desk until the invigilator permits you to do so.

After the Examination Please submit your completed answer booklets and question paper to the invigilator at the end of the examination. No item of stationery should be removed from the exam hall. All candidates must remain seated for the full duration of the examination until all papers have been collected. Those who finish early must remain seated and MUST not leave the examination hall prematurely. Please note that question papers will be collected by the invigilators at the end of each exam and before you leave the examination hall Results for January 2019 are expected to be available on 7 March 2019 for International Advance Level (IAL) and International GCSE. "Candidate Statement of Provisional Results will be sent to students home addresses for the private ones and to the schools for the school candidates. The original certificates are expected to be available sometime in April 2019. Private candidates will have to collect certificates in person from the British Council by showing original Statement of Entry or valid international passport. In occasion of any candidate living outside Bangladesh certificates can be collected by an authorised person along with candidate s authorisation letter original statement of entry and original ID of the person collecting on behalf. Candidate under different centre will collect the certificate from their respective schools.
