The Governing Body of Westminster City School meets once each term and sub-committees meet more regularly. There are governors sub-committees for: discipline, curriculum, personnel and finance & buildings. Mrs Carol Rider BSc Chair Carol joined the governing body back in 2006 when her two sons were at school here. After a career in banking she read psychology at University College London and then undertook postgraduate studies in systemic family therapy. Carol has worked in education for almost 20 years within the boroughs of Westminster and Tower Hamlets and today works with a leading Christian conference and retreat centre. Carol was appointed Chair of Governors in 2011 and in 2014 was awarded the role of National Leader of Governance by the National College for teaching and leadership. Vice Admiral Peter Dunt CB DL Chair of Trustees Peter has enjoyed an immensely challenging and distinguished 40 year career in the Royal Navy. In his early military career he was responsible for delivering logistics support from HMS HERMES during the Falklands conflict in 1982. He later saw a progression of senior appointments in the higher management of defence, with promotion to Vice Admiral in 2002. Peter is married with two children and four grandchildren and lives in Surrey. Mr Francis Abbott BA Trustee Francis has been a governor of Westminster City School for more than ten years. He has strong links with the United Westminster Schools Foundation, serving as chairman of the governors of Emanuel School and a Trustee of the Foundation. He is a solicitor in private practice by profession and has worked as such in the South London area for over 40 years. Francis attended Sutton Valence School as a pupil and considers it a privilege to be on the governing body of Westminster City School and to be part of its drive for excellence in all aspects of its activities. The Rev Canon Anthony Ball MA Vice Chair Anthony has been a Foundation Governor since October 2016 following his appointment as a Canon of Westminster. After leaving University he spent sixteen years working as a diplomat during which time he was ordained. He left HM Diplomatic Service in 2005 to join Archbishop Rowan Williams staff at Lambeth Palace. In 2011 he became the Rector of Worth, Pound Hill and Maidenbower in West Sussex and also served as the Anglican Chaplain at Worth School. Anthony is the Chair of Trustees of an international development charity working through Christian partners in the Middle East. He is married with a teenage son. Mrs Helen Brooks BD Governor Helen has been a governor at the school for more than ten years. Her three sons attended the school and she is committed to helping this great school become even greater. Mrs Jill Clark MA Governor Jill has a degree in Economics from Cambridge University and spent over 35 years in the City as an investment professional before retiring last year. She is an experienced school governor, having served on the governing bodies of two primary schools and a school for children with special educational needs. Jill lives in Westminster and is currently a trustee of the endowment fund of a primary school in Westminster. For relaxation she enjoys going to the theatre and listening to classical music. Mr Tara Douglas-Home BA Governor Tara is a senior management consultant with IBM working with a range clients in the automotive and retail sectors. He has a History degree from the University of East Anglia. Tara was appointed a governor of Westminster City School in November 1998 and has served on the governing body since this time. He is also a trustee of The United Westminster Schools Foundation. Mrs Katherine Herzog Parsons BA MA ACII ACT Governor Katherine is the business development manager in Asia for Alternative Energy, BP. She has an undergraduate degree in Politics and Philosophy from Durham University and a Masters in Conflict, Security and Development from the War Studies department, Kings College London. Katherine was appointed a governor of Westminster City School in July 2018. She was previously a governor for three years of Queen Anne s Caversham, part of the Greycoat Hospital Foundation. Sir Charles Hoare Bt BA MSc Governor Educated in Westminster (Pimlico School) and read History at Durham University before a Masters at London School of Economics. Charles has worked in the voluntary sector for the past 20 years with a focus on international social policy. He is married to Eleanor with three school age children and lives in North London. Mr John Olatunji BA FRSA Co-opted Governor John was born in Southwark, South London and is an alumnus of Westminster City School. He attended the school between 2005 and 2010 before completing his education at Christ s Hospital, West Sussex and York University. Following university, John undertook a rotational graduate scheme at a leading U.S. multinational financial services institution and is currently an associate within the corporate and investment banking treasury services division. John is a communicant member of the Church of England and is a former governor of a south London primary school. John is an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club, enjoys playing rugby and maintains a keen interest in politics, international relations and education. Mr Brian Weaver MA Governor Brian was born and raised in Ohio. He studied counselling and intercultural ministry in the USA and gained an MA in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London. Brian is a resident of the City of Westminster, where his wife works in a primary school. He is Chief Operating Officer for the charity Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship and is a churchwarden of All Souls Clubhouse. Mr Peter Broughton MTheol Headteacher Peter joined the school in 2018 as Headteacher. He has worked in education for the last 15 years having previously worked at schools in London and Japan. He was born in Surrey and attended The Royal Grammar School in Guildford before reading Theology at the University of St Andrews. He now lives in South London with his wife and two sons. Peter is a keen football fan and regularly attends matches at Dulwich Hamlet with his boys.
