PRINCIPAL NEWS Welcome Back! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable Easter and made some time to spend doing the pleasurable things in life with those who are important. Term Two is upon us and we will be in June before we know it, especially given our first three weeks involve only 4 school days each week. For this reason it is vital we make every day and moment count. Making every moment count starts with consistently high attendance. Last term we achieved our whole school target of 93% (equal to 2016). As a school that is good and it will be maintained, or improved, by individually everyone ensuring that they are limiting absences to only those required. As with everything in life, the overall goal is achieved by all individuals focussing on their smaller part. Within the educational world a phrase which has been popular in recent years is, staying the course. Put plainly it refers to sticking to a definite plan and course of action long enough to allow it to fully take effect and realise the benefits. It could also be explained by the phrase, sticking to the game plan. For us here at Texas P-10 SS this means continuing our focus on increasing the clarity for students, and parents in regard to what is being learnt and the progress which is being made. Last term we issued interim reports to allow parents to receive a formal update on how things are going. This will allow more directed discussions to occur in the coming weeks during our parent and teacher interviews. Please make use of these interviews even if everything appears to be progressing well. We all have something to improve on and it also takes effort to maintain high results. Another way we are staying the course, is the increased consistent use of learning intentions in every lesson, every day. This is an area of continued growth for us a school which will allow students to be very clear in each lesson what they are learning and how that relates to specific skills to be used when required. For parents, our learning snapshots which will be sent home in the coming weeks will also be focussed on the learning intentions for each particular unit being studied. As always if you are unsure about anything or would like further clarification on any matter please contact your child s teacher or the office. Have a great week. Thanks Justin. Changes to this weeks Calendar There will be no on Thursday due to Cross Country There will be no Playgroup this week due to Cross Country Parade will be on Thursday Morning after Cross Country instead of 2.30pm
