IGCSE & GCE EXAMINATION TIMETABLE, JUNE 2009 INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (IGCSE) GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (O/AS & A/AICE(HC)) EDITION DATED SEPTEMBER 2008 1 About this timetable Guidelines 1.1 Attention is called to the changes made since the first issue of the timetable. The changes are printed in red on this timetable. 1.2 This timetable contains: Notes on final timetable A full list, in date order, of all examinations Key to final timetable. This is a full list, in alphabetical order, of all examinations. 1.3 If any paper is not mentioned in the timetable, Centres must contact CIE for the examination dates. 2 About the sessions The times for sessions are: Morning sessions 8.00 a.m. to 1 p.m. (0800 to 1300) Afternoon sessions 1.00 p.m. to 6 p.m. (1300 to 1800) Papers must be started and completed within the times shown. 3 Where there is more than one paper in a single session 3.1 If a candidate is entered for two papers of the same syllabus which are timetabled for the same examination session, they may have a short break between the two papers. 3.2 If a candidate has to sit two papers in one session, the second question paper must NOT be given out until: the time allocated to the first question paper has been allowed and the scripts for the first paper have been collected. This rule applies unless the rubric of either of the question papers gives a different instruction. 4 Time Allowance for Question Papers Any time specially allocated for candidates to read through question papers and to study maps, etc., is already included in the total time allowance shown in the timetable. You must not allow any additional time. 6 IGCSE Art & Design 0400 Papers 1-3 and GCE AS & A Level 9704 Papers 01 Copies of IGCSE Art & Design 0400 Papers 1-3 and GCE AS & A Level Art & Design 9704 Paper 01 are to be given to candidates on receipt. 7 Local Arrangements Centres are responsible for letting candidates know when examinations will start, and for telling them about any changes to the printed timetable. Any local arrangements previously agreed with CIE must be adhered to. 8 Timetable clashes If a candidate is entered for two papers that are timetabled for the same session, the rules depend on the total duration of the two papers. If the total duration is 3 hours and 45 minutes or less: both papers should be taken in the same session with a supervised break between papers. You do not need to notify CIE about this. If the total duration is more than 3 hours and 45 minutes: you must submit a Timetable Deviation Form (INT/E24) to CIE. Please note that whenever there is a timetable deviation, candidates starting an examination at any time that is not the scheduled time, must be kept isolated from candidates who have already taken the paper. For further information about timetable clashes, please refer to the appropriate section of the CIE Handbook for Centres 2009. 9 Practical Tests in Science and Food & Nutrition 9.1 All practical papers must be taken at the times set in the timetable. 9.2 If there are more candidates than there is space for in one session, the Invigilator may hold the test in two or more sessions, as long as satisfactory arrangements are made to ensure the integrity of the Examination. Arrangements must be made to ensure that there is no contact between candidates who have taken the test in the first session and those who are scheduled to take it in the second or later sessions, either at the Centre or at any other Centre. *Indicates that an additional session may be held in the morning or afternoon of the same day. 5 School-based Syllabuses For school-based syllabuses, written examinations should be timetabled between 3 May and 14 May. Completed Mark Sheets must be received in Cambridge by 30 May. 10 Location Entry Codes CIE operates a system of entry codes based on location. In practice, this means that for some components there will now be two component codes where previously there was only one, e.g. Centres previously entering 9706/02 will be directed to enter either 9706/21 or 9706/22. The first digit of the new component code will be the current component number, so 9707/02 becomes 9707/21 and 9707/22. For further information about Location Entry Codes, please refer to the appropriate section of the Procedures for the Submission of Entries (INT./E.3 Booklet) 2009. *2142742008*
