It is a long standing tradition at St. John s and our School Counseling and Guidance Program to give our students the opportunity to participate and work in collaboration with the National Children's Advocacy Center (NCAC). The project includes providing students the opportunity to work with professionals on a designated learning practicum day. This is a field trip service project to the NCAC. The students are asked to participate in a 10-minute mock interview to allow professionals who are in training to practice some of the skills that they have been learning, such as rapport building by talking with a child about a fun topic of interest. In between sessions, students have the opportunity to play games and get to know students from other grades. Students between the ages of 5 to 12 years old are asked to participate in morning or afternoon sessions. Drivers are needed from 8:00 am to 11:45 am and then from 12:00-3:15pm. The afternoon session does have your student returning after school has been dismissed. To sign your student up, please see attached documents. To volunteer to be a driver, please contact Dr. Cole at mcole@stjohnb.com. All students participating must bring a sack lunch and all 5 year old students must bring their car seat. The Red Ribbon Planning Committee is working hard to make it a fun and educational week for the students. Our Theme this year is Our School Rocks: Band Together Against Bullying and Drugs.
